Beautiful! What more can be said. So many amazing hiking trails. Family friendly or more advanced. Lots of washrooms available at many different trails heads or near one. Amenities in the town are great. I've always had friendly and good service anywhere I've gone, be it a restaurant or a shop. Great picnic spots and day use areas around a beautiful lake.
A beautiful place for few days trip. The lake has clean water but beaches are full of pebbles n rocks so I would recommend to take pair of slippers or pool sandals to use on beaches or in the lake. Few places to visit in the national park n few activities to do including biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding etc. Many times you will spot wild life too. definitely, worth of a visit if you like water, mountain n nature.
Beautiful and stunning national park. I could go hundreds of times and still not get sick of it. Their ice cream shop was amazing. The boats were even better. I recommend if you got some spare money you should go on the boats. Just incredible pictures.
One of my top places to visit every summer! It's a beautiful park and it is usually super windy which is great during hot days. The town is small but it great to walk with kids and not busy. You can bring your boat, canoes, and play around the lake which is huge! Super cold water, definitely one of the coldest lakes in Alberta. You can park all over town and camp as well.
Incredibly underrated National Park. Banff gets a lot of the attention in Alberta but Waterton is truly a sight to see. The lakes with cascading mountains are simply breathtaking. Chilling drinks in Waterton Lakes, many great hikes with neat viewpoints. Wish I could have seen Waterton before the forest fires of 2017, but seeing forests in their regenerative state is really cool. Highly recommend driving to see Lake Cameron. Bertha Falls and Boundary Point are both pretty cool hikes.
Just spent 3 days here with my family in late September and there is so much to do and see. Very beautiful hiking paths with gorgeous views and very low effort hikes... Delicious food and the locals are so kind! It has a Banff-but-better-small-town-feel! Lots to do with people of all ages! Playground: The playground is adorable! Restrooms: There are lots of restrooms available on frequent stops throughout the park! Dog-friendliness: Saw tons of dogs. All on leash Picnic area: Beautiful sites to have a snack!
One of my favorite National Park. Not as busy and more quiet than other National Parks in Alberta. Nice variety of trails for all to enjoy nature. Beautiful lake and cute village to wind down and relax.
Watertown lake with about 20 sq miles is exciting. The lake cruise was fun and informative. Part of the lake in MontanaUSA and the 49 parallel. Bit of an adventure you could be crossing over to other country with no restriction. Parking space is difficult to find. Facilities are good. Nice place to enjoy with kids and family.
Fantastic long weekend spent in a vastly under-promoted & underrated national park. From stunning scenery, to charming hikes and lake visits, this is a must go-to destination for whoever is visiting the province. I'd recommend looking up Baba's B&B in Pincher Creek to stay; from there, it's just a half hour drive one-way to the gates of Waterton. Observation: the extent of the forest fire devastation in 2017 is shocking. Nothing is restored. Nature will take care of it through the centuries itself.
Highly recommend Waterton Parks at every season!!! Cameron Lake pictured below was a wonderful last stop at the end of the season. Bertha Falls is always a wonderful must-do every time you visit. Traveller's tip: If you are travelling with young explorers, make sure to stop at the visitor's center and request a complimentary coloring book and tag with metal chain at the visitor's desk. The visitor's center is a must do for families!!
