The doctor ran a lot of tests in emerg, but he and the rest of the staff claimed my illness was “psychological.” I do have a history of mental health issues, but their diagnosis led to months of crippling illness. New symptoms arose but because of my mental health problems, I was too traumatized to go back to the emergency room. I lost over a quarter of my weight in four months, was admitted to a psych ward, needed a new glasses prescription, hit my head many times I have brain trauma already, so this was concerning to loved ones, and my teeth are corroded badly.nI did recover after getting medication from a different emergency room two-and-a-half hours away. I cannot blame the hospital fully for me not seeking treatment again sooner after their misdiagnosis, but I am disappointed that I needed to do so in the first place.nIt’s two stars because I know they did do a ton of tests and when they found appendicitis, they worked endlessly to get me into emergency surgery in Fort Sask.nHowever, with the permanent repercussions from them claiming my illness psychological, I am recommending getting a second opinion if they pin your symptoms on your mental illness. It may take months of pain and trauma if you take them at their word.nI still have panic attacks that need to be calmed with medication because of the repercussions of my experience.nBut they did work tirelessly and the staff was amazing when they did believe me. It took three different people trying to give me an IV because of the dehydration, and nobody was frustrated and they were gentle the entire time. I did hear them bad-mouthing me right outside of my room, and they were doing the same to other patients, but I figure that was the least of my problems.nThis is definitely a place to go if you need emergency help, but be cautious if their conclusion doesn’t fit your symptoms. Nobody is perfect all of the time, but it can have more dire effects in the hospital environment. I can say definitively that my individual experience does earn two stars.
I travelled from Edmonton for day surgery and had a great experience at the Wainwright Health Centre. As soon as entering the facility, I felt that I was in good capable hands. The staff are wonderful and so friendly. Thank you to Michelle who called me to inform me about the surgery, and to Paige and Gail the RNs on the day surgery unit. Also to Dr Bochinsky, a great surgeon, who has now operated on both of my feet. I am so grateful!
I went for blood work. They were all so mean. These women are quite possibly being held there against their will because nobody should treat people like that normally.
Went in last week on Wednesday night. Got in right away, nurses were wonderful, doctor was good as well.
Terrible nurses, terrible doctors. Will prescribe medications without telling side effects, misdiagnosing serious issues, brushing off patients pain, and rude nurses. These people do not know what they are doing and in many cases cause more harm than good. There needs to be an investigation into the incompetence and malpractice that happens here.
