So happy! Van Tea Cafe Richmond finally opened on Oct 19, Van Tea Cafe is a HK style cafe located on the corner of 41st and Main. My family always has trouble deciding where to eat , my friend had recently recommended Van Tea Cafe so that's what I suggested, and our whole family are now their loyal guests in general they have so many delicious dishes to recommend! First of all, I personally highly recommend Drunken Chicken Pot, Singapore Laksa Rice Noodles, Steamed Rice with Northern Mushroom Slider Chicken and Chipotle Chicken Ball Pot! Also worth mentioning is their breakfast, Both breakfast with French Toast were quite good. I like their crispy sided sunny sides up and the smooth omelette. The French Toast totally satisfied our cravings. It was crispy egg battered outside with egg custard jam inside. You could add the butter and syrup on top of your French Toast. The Satay Beef on macaroni was very flavorful with the satay sauce. Food was delicious and one of the best laksa in Vancouver! Reasonably priced and huge servings. The place is very clean inside Amazing staff, very kind polite and patient. Vancouver is an Asian food hub and Van Tea Cafe is the best Hong Kong styled restaurant. Very authentic, would 100% recommend.
Visited twice. The first time was a really busy and crowded evening so I felt the tables might be too close together and the service seemed to suffer for it. Food that night was not as good as the Vancouver location but was alright. I heard the head cook moved to this location but maybe not by that night This time was a less crowded breakfast so it was better. Food seemed better but then breakfast and dinner are different meals. Ordering 2 item combos is a good deal $14 vs just 1 @ $10. Love that egg custard in their deep fried French toast. Congee was good too as seems no MSG. Plenty of parking in their shared parking lot both times. Capstan Way street parking if the lot is full. This is a fine location for breakfast if you are dropping someone off to the airport. I'll visit again if in Richmond for the day and maybe I'll give more stars in the future after those visits
10 % off until today grand opening special. We went yesterday and waited for maybe 15 minutes- they seem to have more 2-people tables available; there were 4 of us. Reservations can only be made for 6+. The service was good and the food came at a reasonable time. My bbq duck noodle soup was so-so: the rice noodles were over-cooked, but eatable, and the duck was tasty, but not too meaty. The tomato beef rice was good. I didn’t get photos of the other dishes at our table. I ordered a half Hainanese chicken to take out and it was moist, firm and delicious - I’d definitely recommend this chicken.
I finally get to eat the ribs at restaurant, they are crispy outside tender inside. The meat quality is . All dishes are hot and tasty. I like the ambience of the restaurant, clean, bright and comfy. Will come back to try there Malaysian flavours.
This restaurant offers classic HK cafe food with generous portion sizes that leave you full. The citron honey garlic spareribs were absolutely delicious with super sticky honey garlic sauce and crispy fried ribs. Wonderful food texture pairings. The menu is extensive and you will definitely find something you like to eat. The restaurant is bright, clean, and new.
Best place so far in Richmond for some Hong Kong style cafe food!! Chinese people love to come to places that can serve food that has "Wok Hei" meaning when they stir fry, the heat is high enough so you can taste it! And don't get me wrong I don't mean its burned or over cook! It's just right! If your in the area please give it a try they have 2 location, I went to the one in Richmond which opened not to long ago, enjoy everyone!
Great to have a HK style cafe in the area! I've been to their location on Main Street before. We went for an early dinner and had the beef brisket and tendon which came with a small soup and rice. I was surprised that rice was included! The beef was tender and tasty and the sauce was really good with the rice. We also ordered the satay beef rice noodles and the portion was quite big and came with a hot drink we chose HK milk tea. FYI they don't take credit card. Cash or debit min. $20.
I have tried Van Tea Cafe located in Vancouver and the food are always good. I’m so glad that they opened another restaurant in Richmond as this one has more parking spots. I went there for lunch and ordered curry briskets, laksa noodles, sautéed cauliflower & preserved meat, citron honey & garlic spareribs, French toast. All the dishes were delicious and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back again to try the dinner menu the seafood feast is very tempting! Address: 150-9020 Capstan Way, Richmond
Portion ok. Price ok. Duck wasn't the best... seemed a bit old or perhaps over cooked? Soup is good! Rice and 2 meats was good.Food: 4/5
I have been to the Vancouver location and Richmond location a few times and overall no complaints. I always have a soft spot for Hong Kong style cafes. My main comment is for anyone that likes to try the laksa soup. It is very high in MSG I felt extremely tired afterwards and had to sleep it off. I am someone that loves pho too so I can tolerate sodium usually. Also if you are comparing this Hong Kong cafe laksa to the Deer Garden one I would pick Deer Garden over Van tea. I did not feel this type of hangover from them. Just my two cents. Wonderful staff as I recognized some from the original location.
