Val and Patsy’s Island food

I ordered the Callaloo with a side of rice and peas, I normally get this dish from other restaurants but this is by far the best place I’ve gotten it at. This is definitely a dish for someone who wants a homemade meal but didn’t have enough time to cook something up at home, definitely someone who doesn’t like fast food in general. It’s a 10/10 for me, nice portions for the prices and you can definitely feel the love in the food. I see myself becoming a regular for this dish.

Loved this spot! Thankful for more Caribbean restaurants in Durham !! If was really good I had the fried chicken dinner and jerk chicken poutine ! Food is cool and the packaging was good because it kept everything warm and safe!! Definitely will return because price point isn’t bad either and the service was good too

Decided to hop in this restaurant with my better half on a whim and I'm definitely glad I did on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the Goat Roti, 2 patties, 1 Jerk Chicken and a pepsi & Coconut water. So let start with the basics.. the Patties were actually toasted perfectly and not over done or dry and they were still tastie. On to the main attraction in the Jerk Chicken and Goat Roti. The Jerk chicken dinner was good from what I can tell but as my wife finished it prior to me taking a piece, I can only say it must have been good as there was nothing left!!! Lastly, the Goat Roti. The Dhal Puri was freshly made and wrapped by Val herself. You can tell the pride that a cook has in thier food by the simple preparation of it. The Goat was impressive to say the least. I can only describe it in a way where it was just like mama made, only better as I didn't have to clean the dishes... the Goat literally melted in my mouth without chewing. Most importantly, the potatoes that were added, did not make up a majority of my order like most other area restaurants. 2 thumbs and one full belly up in my opinion.

I decided I wanted to treat myself to some delivery while working a long shift. I got the following Val and Patsy's delicious delights; patty and coco bread, jerk chicken and festival, fried chicken and dumplings, with some fried plantains on the side. I smashed the patty right away, and saved the rest for later. Let me tell you how nicely this food reheated! I used my air fryer for the fried chicken and it was as if it was just made-a sign of quality preparation! The plantain had such a delicious flavour and crispy edges! Yum These ladies definitely show love in their cooking and I will be recommending this place to everyone! Oh, and all of that food cost less than two combos at a fast food restaurant, so it goes to show you how beneficial it is to support local business owners!

This is my honest review I’m a Jamaican chef so I know food The goat is a no it’s not even fresh rice & peas is a big no no seasoning no coconut taste ,fry chicken good has flavour the chicken soup is a 2 u don’t make big dumpling like that for sell u make spinners to sell, we don’t put celery in our soup either I’m assuming this is not cook by a Jamaican sorry I won’t be returning

Decent food. Festival and Dumpling are a big size and tasty!! I got a large oxtail dinner. Oxtail was soft and tasty. Rice and peas missing the coconut flavour. Needed more gravy!!! I still enjoyed my food. I bought a frozen box of Pattie’s which are not made in store — just bought elsewhere and resold with a hefty up charge!! I would eat here again but would go out of my way to get back here.

Delicious! I got the jerk chicken with rice and peas. Chicken was fall-off-the-bone. The skin was soft and juicy and had some char which was nice. Fried plantain was great for cleansing the palate and the coleslaw i think it's actually called something else was really great for changing up the texture. Peas were a great texture addition too. Feels like I went to a friend's home and their grandma cooked for me. It's one of those I ate out but still feels healthy places. I'm definitely going to be ordering from here again. I would definitely get extra spicy next time though! : Can't wait! Ordered through Doordash.

Everything about this place is amazing. The service, the portion, and the price are phenomenal. My favourite is the jerk chicken poutine and their roti. My go-to place always.

Done both in store and online orders. The staff that I have had communication with have always been polite and informative. Ordered the fish dinner, the snapper is cooked well & tasted lovely. I once had the salmon with the fish dinner and it was also nice. I will re-order from Val & Patsy again.

My wife found the restaurant by accident, for we have never noticed the signage. Brought dinner there that same night, and the food was amazing, the service was excellent and the portions are very generous. I'm there at least twice a week. I highly recommend Val and Patsy's Island Food
