I ordered the kimchi stew with katsu $14.99, katsu was delicious; breading was not heavy at all, and the meat was seasoned well. I really appreciate that lots of veggies were added to the kimichi stew and that the kimichi did not overpower the dish; it was nice that seaweed was given on the side. Portion is above average and price is decent. Price is good and the quality of katsu is really good! I will be back to try their other dishes.
Uncle Don is one of the restaurants at the food court upstairs at Shops on Yonge, a mall just north of Yonge and Steeles. We ordered the original katsu, which came with a small portion of pasta salad and soup. The katsu was yummy, and the portions were good too. We would definitely get it again and try the other menu items, like curry katsu.
Nice store in this food court that serves a variety of katsus and udons for reasonable prices and pretty good portions. I got their kimchi Katsu stew as I've never seen it before and it was a surprisingly good combination. It felt very warm and hearty during winter. Note this place is cash and debit only!
Amazing food! Great quality, huge portion and super affordable prices. Highly recommend!
I tried the Fish katsu since they ran out of the regular katsu sauce around end of day. It was pretty good, with four pieces of crispy breaded fish and it was fluffy inside, served with a tangy white sauce. Reminds me of a Korean takeout place I used to go to in the Path downtown. Hits the spot. The meal comes with a light salad with thousand island dressing, a small pasta salad, small portion of rice and a miso soup.
We ordered a beef udon in soup for takeout. After got home we realized the lip was not closed. The soup got poured completely and damaged our car seat.Service: 1/5
Don katsu is one of the best in town. Katsuya is good but super overpriced. I'd go to Uncle Don 10 out of 10 times. The workers are not welcoming always but whatever. They serve quality food.
Have to give a 5 star for it. Taste very good as a take out store. Especially during pandemic when most of the place's food quality keep decreasing. You won't regret to try it out.
I've been here about 5-6 times and in all of those times I have never been disappointed. It may be a little deceiving since the restaurant is in a food court, but I assure you that the dishes and the flavours are great! So far, the main dishes that I have tried are the beef udon, the spicy & non-spicy seafood udon and the miso ramen. My favourites out of the three is the beef udon, since the meat isn't too chewy and just right. Even though, it doesn't have many components the simplicity of the beef udon makes it delicious. Also, the sides that I have tried are the spicy kara-age chicken, the gyoza and the takoyaki deep fried octopus. If I were to compare their sides to other ramen/udon restaurants, I'd say that they make the best takoyaki and spicy kara-age. Their gyoza is mediocre. Service wise; they give you your food at a good time and the lady who runs the orders is really nice. If you are craving udon, go to Uncle Don.
Great food and quantity. Out of all the Korean-style donkatsu in the area, this place is by far the best. Katsu sauce is amazing, katsu isn't super thin, and has a crispy breading. Seems like a family run business, they are super friendly!
