We loved this place! The vibes here are cozy, calming with all the greenery and fun. The service was wonderful. And the food is delicious! We’ve had the brunch, the takeout sandwiches and baked goods and drinks and literally all were so good. High quality ingredients with interesting twists. We also loved the dish-ware with all the gorgeous ceramics. Highly recommended stop when you’re in the area!
I’ve wanted to try Ubuntu Canteen since the beginning of the pandemic and finally got a chance as I was in the neighbourhood. It has a welcoming atmosphere and a few little nooks where you can find seating. Or, you can take some of their baked goods and food items to go. We were lucky and got in just before the big rush, ordering their French toast, some eggs and bacon and a few loaves and baked goods. Everything was well done and tasty. Prices are a little steep, but they use quality ingredients and take care in their food preparation. I definitely want to go back to try their dinner menu.
Service was friendly and food was delicious, however the kitchen was at a slower pace than I'm used to. Reservations for 7:30 and we left there at 10:15, and not because we sat around chatting for a long time after dinner. It was my friend's birthday so we got soft serve on the house, so that was nice!
Really love the vibe there! I went there a while ago. Don’t remember what exactly I ordered back then, but as far as I remember everything was pretty good especially their foodwould definitely go back and try more things! Cozy seating area. Good ambiance.
Amazing wine selections, great dishes that use fresh and local ingredients, and super accommodating and professional hospitality. I didn't take a lot of photos, but there wasn't one dish that was not good. The dishes are all fresh and balanced. I didn't find anything that was too salty, or overpowering. The dishes are also not pretentious, i.e. no unnecessary foams or fancy things. They are still well plated and subtle. I went with two young children and they have no problem with them at all. The restaurant is well decorated but not pretentious. You would feel comfortable coming here in a dress shirt or shorts. Needless to say, I very much enjoyed my meal and time there. I will be back for more wines and food. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian dishes, even have vegetarian omakase type menu. Kid-friendliness: High chairs and good comfortable seatings. Parking: Plenty of street parking
This is from a visit in summer 2021, and I think we ordered almost one of everything on the menu. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted. Loved the various flavours and how creative they were with vegetables, though their meat dishes were equally delicious!
Wonderful environment decorated with lively plants. I like the texture from ceramic cups and plates. The staffs are super friendly and nice. Serving good food and fresh made coffee. Recommended.
The place is pretty, cozy setting w plants and natural sunlight through a lot of window. Such a dreamy place to sit down for a coffee or glass of wine. They have an open kitchen so it gives the space a vibrant and active energy. The price is high, not cheap. Menu looks innovative and cool and I would come back to try more. I had a squash tagliatele but it looks like a pappardelle to me. The taste was interesting. One of the staff that helped me was friendly, another was just trying to get job done. By the wine glass not cheap, you supposed to ask for what available but when I asked.. there are only 1 available. If the restaurant is closed for many days of the week, should also carefully QC the opened wine bottle- should not do it in front of customers..
Not exaggerating when I say that this was some of the best food of my life! I went for lunch and then ended up going back to dinner the next evening. Great coffee, pastries and natural wines to boot! Lovely staff as well. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Vancouver!
Stellar. Flavor driven cuisine with respect and embodiment of the producers of product. What might look simple, is the true understanding of what the food is able to offer. The wine list is balanced with a large amount of natural leaning producers. The room feels comfortable, very much a neighborhood vibe to it. Combined, it punches well above what might expect. Dietary restrictions: Partner is a celiac, was accommodated with no after effects.
