Pulled in at 6pm expecting to be told no spots were available. Woman in the office was super nice, gave us the last site available. Water and electric only 30/50, $50ish for the night kinda steep for W/E, but it was 95 degrees amd we needed a/c. Area is beautiful, water was refreshing, falls were cool. Neat to see everyone hanging out on the rocks, kinda like a beach back home but without the sand!. Great place! Campground roads are tight for any kind of rig with size to it, but perfect otherwise!
For an urban campground it really wasn’t that bad. Most of the sites look pretty small, but it was quiet when we were there and was a pleasant enough place to camp. The men’s bathrooms really stank though.
I had medical appointments at Thunderbay Hospital and instead of spending time in hotel. I stayed at Throwbridge Falls campground. I had my 3 Standard Poodles there and everyone loved it. I saw lots of mountain bikers having on those beautiful bike trails and bike jumping areas. My dogs ran on a park near the bike race track off the leash with other dogs from the campground. My dogs and a friend explored the small rapids swimming and racing. The lady Kayla absolutely rocks. She's friendly. Outgoing. Outstanding customer service and professional. Just an absolutely big sweetheart. She helped with our bookings and showed where we could find everything we needed. She always answered the phone in a carying knowledgeable manner. Kayla from a person who wasn't feeling well you gave kind carying comfort for me to stay. Love you to pieces girl. Thanks again for all the great service and your campsite us a 5 out 5 clean. Comfortable and easy access campground. Not a noisy crazy place loved that so much. Lots of Dogs and most cleaned up after their dogs. This campsite has so much beauty and hiking trails and bike trails around. Close to Kakabeka falls which I went to see absolutely beautiful and also other areas and campsites around to explore. Really close to the Hospital and stores in Thunderbay city. I will be back my next medical appointments.
I had called about a site and was told there were plenty and no need to reserve. After getting to Thunder Bay and getting a meal and doing laundry showed up at 7:54 and two girls were leaving the office. We were told that they were closed.?they were rude and the one wouldn’t even roll down her window. We went and picked out a site and set up camp and expected to register in the morning. A security guard came and said we had to pack up ? We have travelled all over Canada and have NEVER not been able to register in the morning if the office is closed. We ended packing up at 10:30 at night and sleeping in a parking lot. Shame on you Thunder Bay for treating tourist like this.
It’s a really beautiful place with lots of places for swimming. Tons of bathrooms and free, hot showers. There is a laundry room as well. It is a bit pricey though
Extremely upset of the experience of booking, we want to preregistration online or email transfer the payment, but unfortunately the staff just didn’t want give any convenience to the campers like us don’t want give them all my credit cards details, not recommended! Not friendly! Nothing else.
For a municipal campground this place is quite good. The Rock and waterfall is really interesting and really nice to climb around.
We were given an all mud sight. Wouldn't refund us leaving earlier because of the mud. People were screaming bear multiple times. All the sites pool water. Mosquitoes were god awful. Avoid like the plague.
Good rates nice staff. But.. drunk drivers and partiers should have been tossed out after midnight and security was no place to be found
View is very nice, but no WIFI. Most other campgrounds have a Little or some sort of wifi, it would be very nice to have an option. The people that work there are very friendly and keep things very well where the camping is concerned. BUT, using the power is another issue. We had the coffee maker, the fridge and the fan running, but no A/C and the breaker would trip. That became very frustrating.... No matter how little we would put on, or have running the breaker would trip. Still a really nice place and area to see and walk around at.
