Nice hidden gem for Jamaican food in Gerald Square, Toronto. Quite a few line up during lunch hours. Great deal. Fast service. Cost effective. We tried their signature jerk chicken w curry potatoes & rice as well as the jerk chicken sandwich.

Honestly, the BEST jerk chicken in the city! Best kept secret in the food court of a mall?!?!??? BITE SIZE pieces of chicken is what makes it so special - always a generous portion, more than I can even finish in one sitting and I am a BIG eater too. The potatoes are reminiscent of my grandmothers and mom's. The rice and peas are on point with a lot of oxtail gravy. Love the house hot sauce, and the little shot of slaw is a nice cooling palette cleanser for afterwards. I usually order for delivery - but if you go to the mall - the service is so great.

Awesome Food. I always go for the jerk chicken roti with added ox tail gravy. The jerk chicken is on the weaker side of a typical medium spice. They'll add spice if you want it. The large size is really two meals, I take the second half for lunch most times.

December 22, 2021 Not wanting both rice AND potatoes, I opted for a roti today - jerk pork and curried potatoes small. Chock full, spicy, and the pork was tender and succulent. Hit the spot perfectly and was an excellent weapon to fight off the cold wind today! November 30, 2021 In Gerrard Square today doing a bit of Christmas shopping and as soon as I saw Tropical Joe's in the food court, I knew exactly where I would be having my lunch. Opted for the large jerk chicken dinner with curried potatoes, rice and peas and coleslaw. Hard to tell by the photo, but there really is rice and peas underneath all that chicken! The food servers are wonderful and thank God for that cool coleslaw! October 22, 2021 Not often in this little mall Gerrard Square, and when I am, I'm never in this little food court. Today, for some reason, I was here at lunchtime and Tropical Joe's was a name I didn't recognize. Tried the large jerk pork dinner. It came with rice and peas, curried potatoes and a very small side of coleslaw. Man - it was deelish!! Underneath that pile of meat is a full serving+ of the rice. Didn't even need the coleslaw other than as a cooling factor. The dinner was wonderfully spiced AND spicy! A return visit is definitely in order!7

Came here at 6:30pm and the poutine was already sold out. Nonetheless, the jerk chicken rice & peas was one of the best I've ever tasted. The chicken was sooo tender and the gravy packed a lot of punch! I like how they included curried potatoes too. The coleslaw was kinda meh and tiny, but it didn't affect how much I enjoyed my meal. One note of caution: if you can't handle spice, don't ask for hot sauce. I have a pretty high tolerance for spice but I was sweating!

Get the jerk chicken, patties, rice etc. 5 star for those. Chickpea curry is decent but the roti is so dry - 3 star. You can see the flakes pictured. Wouldn't recommend but everything else is bomb!

This is my favourite jerk chicken, period. The staff here are amazing and always friendly, and go above and beyond for my order every single time. I’ve ordered both in person and by delivery countless times and my food is always fresh, tasty, and exactly what I asked for. Their house-made hot sauce is also my absolute favourite.

One of the BEST hidden gem's for West Indian cooking in Toronto! The food is delicious and the hot sauce is the real deal. I get the curry chicken w/rice and beans and potatoes, and it comes with a side of coleslaw. I've been telling the owner to Franchise TJ's for years. Awesome food.

Love their portions and great price. Their jerk chicken was really tender. A little bit on the spicier side. Their patty mix in with everything was amazing. Will definitely revisit.
