The best burger in town. The charcoal aroma makes the burger tastes so different and delicious. Even though I am not a big fan of their fries but the burger is too good ao I am giving it a 5 stars. Old style burger place with welcoming staff.Food: 5/5
Best burgers ever! I’ve been coming here with my family and friends since I was a kid. Quality has not changed a bit and I enjoy every bite of the burger. Their homemade combo is the “go-to” for many, however I haven’t really tried other things on the menu because this combo is just too good!! When I went today, I believe it was $16-17 after taxes for a combo. Not cheap, but you’re getting the quality. They usually get busy during meal times, so you already know that people are willing to spend that kind of money since it’s really good! I would suggest to get the onion rings instead of fries though. Sometimes their fries are a little burnt, but I’ve never had an issue with their onion rings for the past ten years. They hand bread it, so sometimes the rings look stuck together which is the evidence that they make it from scratch Fast service, and very accommodating. Not to mention that they also have beer! Great for a small family dinner, ambience is nice and it reminds me of the old movies where they feature a diner. Also one plus: they used to only take cash, but now they take both cash and debit card. Still no credit, so make sure you bring a bank card or cash.
Had the classic homemade burger with a strawberry milkshake, poutine, and onion rings. Food tasted great, service was incredibly fast and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Milkshake was the best I’ve ever had, will definitely be back for more. Update: still damn good
Services are good, staff is very friendly but the Burger, With the recommendation of the owner of the shop who was a very nice person, I ordered Homemade All Star Burger, which according to him is their best food, but what I ate? It was a cold burger with a cold bun with mushrooms that were directly from the refrigerator on a patty, with potatoes on the side. The fries were very low quality, all in all I can say it was a very ordinary burger that I do not recommend.
Golden Star is legendary, I've been coming here since I was a little kid in the 90s. But if I'm honest, it's a little disappointing now. I paid $16 for a 6oz burger and average size onion rings. No drink. $16! When I think of a diner I think of two things - no frills but quality, and affordable. The quality is there. The Burger is very good even if only 6oz. Rings were ok, not bad. But there is another legendary burger joint at Sheppard and VP where you could get the exact same thing for half the price. Sadly I think this will be the last time I come to Golden Star. There are just better options and the prices are absurd. Banana for scale. Edit: removing 1 golden star because looking through the reviews I can see people getting onion rings in a paper tray and they get more. I got in the slim paper cup they use for fries. Not impressed.
The best flame grilled burger in the city. Been coming here since I was a kid and it’s always been the best. Can’t go wrong with their homemade all-star burger and don’t forget to add their homemade bbq sauce and griddled onions. Always a great time here and the service is also so friendly.
I was so obsessed with their bbq smokes everyday on my way back home and finally tried the burger! Never regret! but regret why I didn't try this place for long time... You must try if you read this!
This could very well be THE BEST burger joint in all of Toronto. I loved their service I had my hands full with 2 kids a baby and my Great Aunt they helped me get situated and helped me with the stroller and walker. The food was absolutely amazing, the fries were exactly how I like them, shoe string with the skins on. My mouth is watering at the memory. Can’t wait to go back. I just wish they had a ramp for easier access.
I think I ordered the wrong thing: the burgers here are legendary but i got a steak sandwich and it wasn't the best: kind of bland and grizzly. The fries are perfect though, and I can't think of words for the cotton candy milkshake I had for dessert. Next time I'll have a burger. The service is dynamic and lively --how they keep the long line moving so efficiently is kind of miraculous. It's a bit pricey for a burger-and-fries dinner expect to spend $20 for burger, fries and drink but fresh food and from what I hear, the burgers are very good. Worth checking out. Vegetarian options: They have veggie burgers. Kid-friendliness: Fun atmosphere for kids and the food is kid-friendly fare to the extreme. Parking: A bit tight for spots to be honest.
Maybe I just got older but I used to love their burgers but I think everything is just too salty. I think the food is still not bad but not as good as few year I had it.Food: 4/5
