Thrifty Car Rental

If I could get less stars I would. Traveling from Toronto I need to get to Calgary for my flight from Vancouver. I made my reservation well in advance. They cancelled it 24 hours before pickup. Their reason was that people keep dropping these cars off at different places. Shouldn't they have a car reserved? I had a good price and now 24 hours before pick up I'll have to pay over 2000 dollars rather than the rate I had of 850. This is just ridiculous. Looks like my family of 5 will have a great time getting to Calgary by Uber. What a great vacation!!!! Terrible customer service. Do not recommend

Location is great and very central in downtown which is super convenient. The price is also great and not inflated. Few things to improve: 1 the employee didn't know much about loyalty points so she couldn't add my loyalty number to the booking 2 the garage is quite dirty and smelly. The stairs and elevator are quite disgusting. There needs to be a deep wash and regular maintenance there. 3 there was not an employee in the garage when i picked up the car AND when i dropped off the car. they kept telling me someone will be there, but they weren't. 4 hours of operation are limited

I booked through expedia at this location, With a confirmation. Showed up after walking 25 min in the rain. They tell me we have no cars and nothing they can do, called expedia they basically said tough luck no compensation. Dishonest and unprofessional

picked up a chev Impala for a day drive up to Whistler. they were open on Thanksgiving and had a convenient droo box for keys on return. the price was excellent 36ish

Forgot a sweater at the back of the car, realized it 30 minutes later after cleared security at the airport. Called immediately, was told by the woman who picked up a phone to go to the website and fill in the form. It's been a week and nothing. Thanks a lot for caring, terrific service.

Requested a Rav 4 as I had to drive up to a ski resort on 10km of dirt track…these clowns put me in a half charged Tesla 3…fortunately it made it up there but it was terrifying plus no experience of using an electric car before which needed charging on route as it came with 50% charge which got us 150km into the 230km journey….absolutely ridiculous

Worst service ever. Booked car in May for pickup at noon, got to depot 1.5 hours after pickup time because of delayed flight. They had given my car to someone else at 12:15. Basically said I was out of luck, they would wait for a car to come back in and give it to me...but at higher price. Called Enterprise.....they had a car that was cheaper. Price was less. STAY AWAY FROM THRIFTY!!!

Twice gave me a tank that was ‘full’ but almost immediately in 10 minutes of driving needed about $20 of gas. Someone is not actually making sure it is full. When I approached the branch was told it was my fault for not immediately wasting my time to let them know. Be sure to check your gas tank before you leave.

I booked a rental car with Thrifty 6 months in advance - in February 2021 for a family vacation in August. All charges were prepaid. When I arrived to Vancouver airport with my family, I realized that I didn’t have my credit card with me. The person at the counter then refused to give me the car and went out of his way not to help me. He refused to accept Visa debit, cash, or any of my wife’s credit cards. Again, the rental was fully paid for in advance, they just needed a security deposit blocked on a credit card. I realize that not having one was a mess up on my part, but again, the clerk went out of his way not to help us. It clearly was not about the security hold, because we offered a number of ways for them to have security. What the clerk did offer was to rent us the same vehicle under my wife’s name for 3 times the price!! I honestly thought sleazy tactics like this existed only in the movies about scummy salesmen from the 1970s, but hey, Thriftys can offer this experience today. Coincidentally there were 3 people in front of us in the lineup - all of which were really upset with the way they were being treated. One customer was filming her interaction and the clerk threatened to call the police to remove her. I ended up canceling this reservation and renting from another company. Thrifty ruined the start of our trip with their mickey-mouse sham. I only gave 1 star because less is not allowed here.

We rented a car in Vancouver and drove to Seattle. The same evening we had a flat tire in Seattle. From 10pm until 6pm the next day we were on the phone with them. No solution, they told us that someone would come to pick us up: nobody came. The next day they told us that someone would come to pick up the car and change the tire: nobody came. We spent a lot of money in cab and had to add an extra night in hotel because we could not go back to van. The customer service is useless, they change people every time, nobody knows what to do and everyone passes the buck. Do not rent from them!!!!!
