The Shawarma King

Tonight we wanted to try something different so we went to Shawarma King in Lower Sackville. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was clean and tidy. I thought it was nice that they have authentic food that you can purchase there as well. Kind of like a small convenience store within the restaurant. I was quite surprised with the menu options they had. We ordered the chicken/beef shawarma plays and a shawarma poutine for my daughter's daughter which she liked. As always I try to be fair and honest as I can be on my reviews. Personally I found their shawarma to be different than what I am used to. Not that it a bad thing, as the flavor was good. I am not sure but I believe there may be curry in the shawarma as I seemed to get hints of it throughout my meal. I do enjoy a good curry so nothing against curry, but it is not what I have become accustomed to when I order shawarma. I did try my daughter's shawarma poutine which was very good. The fries were wedges that were cooked crispy which is great when your adding cheese and gravy. I couldn't tell but it looked like mozzarella instead of cheese curds but was still good regardless. On another note they did give a good helping of food, but do have higher prices than we typically spend for similar cuisine. If I was going to give some recommendations on improvement they would be as follows: - I really missed the garlic sauce with my shawarma plate which typically comes with the meal. If that was included it would be great. - I would recommend fresh made hummus and slightly increasing the amount given. I did not ask if it was fresh but I would guess store bought I could be wrong on this. I have eaten at another shawarma restaurant that makes theirs from scratch and once you have that, it is hard to go back to store bought. These are small things but add A LOT of value to the price of the meal and would make the price a little more palatable. Overall I would rate 4 stars due mostly because of the combination of pricing and difference in flavor. At the end of the day I would still return as a customer because I did feel welcomed there and I would like to try some other items on the menu. Thank you for your hospitality

We had Shawarma King for the first time tonight and WOW. By far, the best food I've had in a long time. The meat lovers pizza and chicken shawarma plate were outstanding. 20/10 recommend!!

I had the falafel plate. They were so good, not dry and heart shaped which was cute! very yummy hummus. Would get it again and would like to try some other things

What can I say. Feels like I came home for the weekend, only thing missing is a hug on my way out the door. The owners treat you like family and the foods delicious. Had their soup for the first time with a wrap. So much flavor. I actually asked for some to take home so my wife could try it lol.

DON’T GO HERE!… Unless you’re looking for fantastic food!! WOW what a great place to try authentic flavours of Syria! Real bold delicious flavours that will enchant your palette! All good is prepared on site and is fresh! This is mine of HRM hidden gems! A MUST TRY!

The best shawarma in hrm. Salads are fresh and delicious. The pizza is unreal. Fantastic staff!

Ordered a shawarma wrap which was extremely tasty and juicy and got a falafel which was absolutely delicious ..I would definitely suggest this for a person with shawarma carving. Go and make a try Wonderful customer service and the greatest thing is that we could see the kitchen too and how they prepare the dish for us. Hope you would continue this throughout.

Been searching for good shawarma here at home since I left Ottawa. This is on par with some of the best shawarma I’ve ever had. Wrap and plate were excellent. Falafel was also delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

Incredible food and super friendly staff. Got 1/2 chicken and half beef plate with curry rice. Also cheese Zaatar and roasted red pepper Fatayer. This has become my new restaurant of choice for take-out.Recommended dishesChicken Beef Shawarma Plate
