Great food. Decent value. Would give it a 4.5 if I could. Got the lamb and shrimp pasta. Pasta sauce was really nice with the white wine maple cream in it. Too much bread in the starter and the cheese cake crust was a bit soggy. Lamb was extra tasty with the garlic mashed potatoes. Would come again.
Went for dinner after a long day and was not disappointed. We ordered the bread and butter with pate extra and the goat cheese with crackers to start. As for mains we shared the the pasta and prawns and the lamb shank with roasted veggies/beetroot puree. The pasta which was a ravioli, was so delicious, the filling was a butternut squash puree and the prawns were massive. It was tossed in a maple cream sauce with white wine. Absolutely divine!! And the lamb shank was super tender and literally falling off the bone, the mashed potatoes and beetroot puree were paired amazingly. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake with candied peaches and cream. Nice dessert to end the night. They also offered a 3 course tasting menu which was a nice touch but we stuck to the original menu. Would highly recommend!
Enjoyed my date here and the views were excellent with the huge glass walls. We each ordered a salad which was my favorite. Followed by the steam and then the violet dessert. The steam was tasty but also undercooked for us. We ended up not finishing it. Our server was was pretty busy and didn’t check up on us that much and actually avoided eye contact when we needed her. The dessert was fun and creative but still was missing something. Maybe it was consistency but the textures did go together. Make sure to make a reservation…I’m told they stay booked even though we were able to get a reservation on the same night we booked it. We booked online.
We had a dream wedding reception held at the Sensory on July 10. Terry and his team were absolutely fantastic with making our group of 30 feel at home. The dinner was unreal and left our guests raving about everything, even my bridesmaids commented that it was the best dinner they'd ever had at a wedding. When we had a few last minute cancellations due to covid everything was accommodated with no extra charge to us. Renting the patio was also a dream as the view of the mountains was breathtaking and a great spot for people to get some air or sit by a fire. From booking the venue to collaborating before the wedding, Terry was always fast to respond and reassure us that everything we wanted was easy to accommodate. I can't imagine holding our reception anywhere else! Highly recommend this venue if you want excellent food, warm service, and a spectacular view! Thank you to everyone! Dietary restrictions: Always willing to accommodate any dietary restriction!
Our family of 13 had the most delicious dinner here last night for birthday celebrations. Terry was most helpful in coordinating the menu for our request to do family style and to accommodate the many dietary restrictions our group had. We had the spicy shrimp, Caesar salad, gluten free bread, Altaic char, steaks, chicken, burger, and a custom made gluten free lemon cake. All the dishes were so flavorful. The steak and chicken were very juicy and tender as well. The gluten free bread was the best we’ve ever had. The cake with lemon curd was soooo good also. The cocktail drinks and wine were all very good as well. We especially enjoyed watching how the smoky whisky came out in a glass dome. This is definitely the place to go for any celebration, or just to enjoy a gourmet meal. Oh, did I mention the beautiful view?
We hosted our wedding dinner/reception of 26 guests in the Sensory’s beautifully modern private room with an outdoor terrace. Terry was extremely helpful in making sure the details of our wedding event was to our liking - from the table arrangements, food, colors, A/V setup, etc. - so planning the event from all the way in Virginia, USA was a stress-free process. When we arrived on the day of the event for the first time, everything was just as we had imagined and more. The view of the surrounding mountains through the room’s large floor-to-ceiling windows is absolutely breathtaking. The room was very clean and all of our requests were nicely accommodated. The food service was absolutely top-notch. Brad did an excellent job ensuring the evening progressed without a hitch, and Tyler was a fantastic bartender as well. Together they put together a very smooth dinner service that all of our guests enjoyed. They always made sure any request can be accommodated in some form. There wasn’t a single complaint or criticism from any of our guests. The food was phenomenal and is probably the highlight of our event. Each meal course was attractively arranged aesthetically and brought out in a timely manner approximately 15-20 minutes between courses so our guests enjoyed delicious food through a good portion of the night without feeling restless. All of our guests gave incredibly high remarks on the quality of the food, from the Horsd’oeuvres to the soups, salads, and entrees - even as much as to say it was better than anything they ate in all of downtown Banff! The salmon entree was probably the most popular and a favorite by everyone who ordered it. All in all, the Sensory delivered an incredible experience for our small party, and we highly recommend it for anyone looking for a modern setting with amazing views, courteous staff, and of course, incredibly delicious food.
We had the spicy shrimp for a starter - it was spicy + delicious. We all tried and shared the steak, chicken, Arctic char and the burger. The flavours were amazing. For drinks we tried the old fashion, espresso martini, spicy marg and the mojito - all really good! Downside - found shreds of tin foil in the burger dish - stopped eating it, let the server know - absolutely nothing was done about it. We didn’t make a big fuss but felt like this coloured the experience in a poor light.
The dishes were plated wonderfully flavours were unique. I wish the rice was cooked a bit more and knew about extra cost of the shrimp . Great ambience . Would have been nice to see the mountains , maybe next time!
We had a perfect wedding reception for 30 guests in the upstairs private room back in August. Terry and his team were fantastic to work with, taking care of our vegan diet requests and specialty cocktail requests, answering our questions, etc. We had never even stepped foot on site until our wedding day and could not be happier with our choice. Our entire guest list raved about the food, so much that we still hear about it whenever anyone mentions the wedding. Could not recommend The Sensory more for any couples having an intimate wedding in the area!
All around alittle disappointing for birthday dinner for 2. We may try again and see if service is better if you sit upstairs in the dining area. The main floor seating feels like a hotel lobby restaurant with bar service. Nice but not meeting the high end restaurant reviews/articles we had read about. Lovely wine room with huge selection but sadly looked cluttered and overstocked with boxes to the ceiling and piled messily on the floor. The wait staff was either new or overworked. We the wait time for appetizers and drinks was a little longer than we would have normally expected but there was a wedding upstairs so we thought that might have had something to do with it. It was surprising tho that they tried to bill us before our mains arrived. They were nice but surprised when we said we didnt get our food yet and would check on it. After they confirmed, they realized they forgot to put in our order for mains with the kitchen, and expedited our mains. Unfortunately, the food was not to our expectations. It was presented nicely but he steak and fish were both overcooked. Our experience was further dampened by the very loud wedding reception with what sounded like karaoke. It would have been ok with just music but the singalong chorus, hooting, hollering usually off key well above the sound of the dj and music and add to this the random tipsy person in the lounge walking by us and joining in or yelling back at the wedding party upstairs didn't really help... I expect this was a rare night and we were unlucky since they are highly rated. Oh well - one day out of wedding season, maybe we will give it another try. With so many choices on Canmore, I'm not sure that will happen tho. We'll see. If we do tho, we will definitely be reserving upstairs instead of down in the lounge area.
