If you're looking for a genuine tea room experience then this is the place to go. The vintage decor, the atmosphere, the service down to the tea and food options were wonderful. Definitely recommend doing the tea for 2 that comes with a 1 two-tier sandwich tray and 1 two-tier sweets tray. Honestly it doesn't seem like much but you're definitely full by the end and they have to go bags for the sweets tray. The salmon sandwich and the raisin bread sandwich, amazing. The fresh scones with both the jam and cheese spread, to die for. I had the vanilla Earl Grey tea it was beautifully sweet balanced with floral. I will definitely be returning and most likely become a regular.
Finally managed to get a reservation after years of trying. The restaurant had a quaint atmosphere and the host was very polite and well informed. We ordered the afternoon tea and the cheese bruschetta, and liver pate sandwiches were quite flavourful and tasty. The warm biscuit went well with the clotted cream and jam. The cream earl grey tea was the highlight for me however with a nice creamy texture and a hint of sweetness, no sugar required. It was decently priced considering restaurant prices these days.
Love it here! Came for a family shower and once again enjoyed the experience greatly. It's not overly bougie like some of the luxury hotels downtown and I enjoy the slightly shabby, retro decor. High tea was served as it should be with yummy, fresh sandwiches and desserts that were generous in serving size. Definitely will come again.
When you find a place this great, you just want to keep going back. This is a seriously authentic experience. Adam is wonderfully attentive, without ever being intrusive, & so incredibly knowledgeable. The food is all family recipes, which Adam graciously talks about. Sherry in the kitchen is absolute magic. I am incredibly picky, & presentation is everything to me. The food is a delight visually, so perfectly presented. I can’t find enough adjectives to do it justice. Thank you for another fantastic lunch!
Came here for a midweek afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday and the service, food and value was excellent. The cost of the afternoon tea was less than $30 per person and the choices of teas available were so extensive we had to ask for advice on making our choices. I have been a customer here for a number of years but this is the first time I had the afternoon tea usually go for the steak pie and was very happy with food. Actually we couldn't finish everything so we had the leftovers boxed up to take home and enjoy later. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant and the service, definitely would recommend
First time at the Tea Shop for afternoon tea with 3 friends and we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere, food, presentation and service were all outstanding! The owner is amazing, you can certainly tell he loves what he does! The building is not quite wheelchair accessible, there are a couple steps up to enter the building, however the owner is incredibly helpful and accommodating to ensure safe entry and exit; once inside everything is on the same floor and easily accessed. We will all definitely be back, it was a lovely afternoon!
So enjoyed our afternoon tea !! Adam is so attentive and makes your visit fun and not rushed. All the food is made on site and everything is flavourful and beautifully displayed. Scones were the only disappointment. More like a raisin bun then a scone but still very tasty. Will definitely return.
As I have known this place for years, I can tell you that this tea shop won't disappoint in service. Everything was delightful although less baking soda in the scone and mabye a little less heavy on the mint next time. I just wish they were open more and on Sundays as I have not really had a chance to visit as the tea shop is closed when I show up. Still though, keep up the good work!
My wife and I had a delightful time here. The atmosphere takes you away to a different time and place. The server is friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious. Make sure you book in advance. This gem of a place is worth it!Food: 5/5
This little place is a gem on Main Street Markham!!! There were so many kinds of tea and we could try as much kind as we want. The sandwiches and scones were absolutely delicious! We loved the Irish Cream tea and the blackcurrant tea. The tea sets are very nice and the ambience is quite English. Service was great, the owner was very friendly and took the time to explain each items he served. We would definitely recommend this for a nice afternoon tea.
