WOW..if you haven't ~ it's a must! Such a great experience! Amazing service and even the local customers were so helpful with us "newbies" Highly recommend the double steak and cheese.
It was a great hoagie. This location has been there for ever and still keeping people happy. Prices are reasonable. $13 +-. The only thing I have bad to say is the bun is too small. They need a bigger bun, wider. They load it up with great meat and crisp lettuce and veggies but alot falls off cuz the bun is too small. If they want to get 5 from me, that's how it will be done.
Was really expecting a great hoagie coming here based on the reviews and was left disappointed after giving it a few tries now. Ordered the double philly steak, which they are known for and actually cook fresh steak right there in front of you. Although somehow, there is more flavour in Arby’s roast beef. Steak is hot while rest of sandwich is cold. Traditional place that lacks sauces and toppings, bun’s aren’t toasted. You are paying premium prices, with no real flair or added touch from your average sandwich you can make at home. Unfortunate there is little competition when it comes to sandwich shops in Kingston. Will look elsewhere next time.
This is a historical landmark. For anyone who has live here for many years you have to know the hoagie house. Always get excited about getting a cheese steak Hogue.Food: 5/5
Always stop for a hoagie when in Kingston. Thin Alice's of beef and onions cooked to perfection. A must. Yummy!Food: 5/5
I really wanted to give this place a good review because it is a Kingston classic. However, I found it is simply terrible value with short sandwiches that have hardly any meat on them. I'm pretty sure the cheese on ours was half-melted cheese slices from the grocery store. Very expensive for what is essentially a sandwich shop.
Not bad but not great either. Slightly above average sandwich shop. Could really put some effort to elevate the sandwich like toasting the bun. Could drop by if you are in the area but not worth the trip to get here.
I have a had a very long relationship with the Hoagie House-- walking down Division St. from my grandparent's house 20+ years ago to visiting it just a few weeks ago. visiting it years apart in between, lots of family in Kingston and the family cottage Not much has changed, wood panel everything and the fella running the place can sometimes be grumps or fun. Their hoagies don't taste like your regular sub place-- I can't quite explain it, there's an extra umami / grill flavour and the fast food places have nothing on the Hoagie House. Great combo of bun, protein and cooking. I can best describe this place as an old school hoagie, sub, sandwich, Philly type place. If you're a fan of oldy diner burger places, you'll probably love their cheesesteak. 100% nostalgia had influence in this review, but I'm really glad the Hoagie House still exists and decades later after my pallet has changed, I would still absolutely recommend trying it!
Get to Kingston every year and this is a tradition, a great cheese steak hougie. Can't wait till May .
