The Good Harvest Cafe

About

A family-run restaurant that offers a variety of fresh dining options. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week! We also have a full bar and upstairs harbor-view lounge that opens after 4 pm.

Story

The Good Harvest Cafe was founded in 1993 with the intention of creating not only a family business but also providing a much needed service to the community; that service being a well-researched approach to your health through whole foods used in our tasty recipes.

At The Good Harvest Cafe, we have eliminated all unhealthy cooking oils. We use no trans-fats, tropical or hydrogenated oils or margarines. Although much more expensive to use, we only cook with olive oil, vegetable oil, 100% rice bran oil and real butter. Rice bran oil actually removes LDL cholesterol, is half the calories of other oils, and has no artificial ingredients.

Our cooking methods for meats and fish are grilling, sauteing, poaching, and charbroiling. Fish that is deep fried is done with 100% rice bran oil.

Our breakfasts are prepared using extra large grade AA eggs, whole grain breads, fresh squeezed juices (which deliver an active enzyme action that bottled juices don't), fresh fruit smoothies, and fruit bowls with non-fat yogurt and granola. 100% pure maple syrup (upon request), real butter, herbed red potatoes, real 5-minute oatmeal, the finest Arabica beans ground fresh for all coffee and espresso drinks, and Hass avocados are just a sampling of the extra steps we take to insure our high standard of quality.

We offer many alternatives to standard menu fare.

If you are avoiding the high cholesterol in eggs, you may choose the absolutely delicious tofu rancheros or try soy protein sausage links. You might want to try buckwheat pancakes instead of buttermilk. We make our own tasty low-fat herbed cheese for Eggs Benedict and our California Benedict which greatly reduces the high cholesterol and fat found in the traditional hollandaise sauce.

At lunch, instead of our turkey and bacon club sandwich, you might want to try our delicious vegetarian club, or maybe a homemade veggie burger instead of beef. Our beef is from a family farm which uses no hormones or antibiotics, and all of our fish is caught in the wild, rather than farm raised. Our salads are prepared with the freshest dark greens, vegetables, and leafy spring mix, which has a colorful and healthy array of fresh garden nutrients. Our salad dressings are homemade and most are non-fat or low-fat.

Eating low-carb or low-fat is very easy at The Good Harvest Cafe. Although we go out of our way to insure the high quality of our foods, we remain competitively priced. So please, stop by and enjoy!

We also offer all our beverages and meals to-go!

Beautiful atmosphere with exquisite dishes all fresh. I love that they have so many wines and dark beers, the fact that they give you a sample to try first is top notch. They are a bit pricey and have changed over the years from being more of a vegetarian menu 2 serving all types of seafood and gourmet dishes. Wonderful seating great ambiance. My brother-in-law is a dishwasher there and brought me my birthday dinner and I've never had anything so amazing delicious thank you Billy Cox! I run an RV park down the street and I recommend them to all patrons.

This place is great! The waitresses were so friendly and laughed at all my dumb jokes, the food was perfect, even their latte (which by the way you can have made with soy milk, almond OR coconut milk) was delicious! My parents and I ate there and all had full meals for $39.00 and that included my latte. I tipped the waitress $10 she was so delightful. For city folk like ourselves, this was a ideal lunch that really had the "Redwoods Motif" that we were hoping for! Five Stars!!

Forty minutes to get some clam chowder almost as good as Campbell's. An hour fifteen later still waiting for one plate of fish tacos. No word from the waitress what the holdup is. Here we go. Fries are cold. Taste like they'd have been better half an hour ago. Fish rates good. Corn tortillas went straight from the fridge to the plate.

Went here for dinner when we were in town. Two people had the chicken cordon blue which had a different twist on it but both agreed was very good. Two people had fish, one fish and chips, one red snapper. The snapper fillet was a bit more heavily breaded than I expected. Chowder was excellent, as as was the blue cheese. Service was a bit slow but they were busy. Would certainly recommend and return.

We ate there twice during my visit. First was lunch and I had the best fish taco..it was huge and tasty. My sister enjoyed her burger. Then we went for dinner and both were a bit disappointed. I had the halibut. It had parmesan cheese and something else on top.. which I was not a fan of. My sister had the salmon which came with a sauce on it that was not mentioned in the menu. Both would of been better w/o the toppings. They do have a wonderful ranch dressing for the salad. I would go back for lunch any day.
