The Flying Steamshovel Gastropub

I went to the restaurant with friends and it was a great experience! The service was fast and efficient but didn't skimp on personality, staff was friendly and also compassionate when it came to a food allergy misunderstanding. As far as the food it was possibly the freshest fish and chips I've ever had, nice to see they bring in local fish for their dishes! Getting to the amazing shows and stage in here, it is remarkable and I highly recommend you check out the plethora of local and travelling talent that graces this stage. Don't pass up checking out this steller restaurant!

My god. Whoever was in the kitchen during the evening of January 7th, 2026, you deserve the world. The nachos?? The best I've ever had. Whoever made these layered all the toppings instead of just piling them on top, like other restaurants. I hope your crops never fail. I hope you find a winning lottery ticket. Scotch egg was on point and I can understand why it's a popular item. The gochujang pork belly poutine was also delicious. The gravy was savoury and sweet with the additional gochujang and the scallions and cilantro added freshness to the dish. The amount of pork belly was generous and the cook on the pork was excellent, very tender and flavorful. Could have had more fries but I don't think we actually needed to eat more cause we were so full. The salami flatbread was decent but bottom of the order stackrank. The dragonfruit dinosour was tasty as was the IPA my partner ordered. Friendly servers, would recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty meal. Reservations recommended.

We stopped in for a week day lunch. I ordered the soup and my hubby ordered 2 piece fish & chips. The chips were hand cut and the fish was a lovely battered haddock, top notch! Soup was delicious. Beers were cold, service was excellent, we'll definately be back!

re: Pub onlynnService was excellent. Food was quick to the table. Atmosphere is nice, if you like large TV's easily viewed from just about any table.nnPoutine was bland. Smashburger didn't have a discernable crust, I'd be embarrassed to call it a smashburger if I was serving it. The bun was nice. $65 for 3 happy hour dishes and one NA drink is a mediocre value.
