Mountain Shadow Hostel

I had a great stay at Mountain Shadow Hostel! The staff was so lovely and made sure I had everything I needed! The kitchen was incredibly well stocked with loads of spices and such this isn’t the norm for most hostels I’ve stayed in- so this was an added bonus. The location was great if you’re in rossland to ski red like I was! Also just a 30 second walk to Ferraros arguably the best grocery store ever.

Had a great stay at this hostel. Staff were lovely, everything was kept clean. Rooms were basic but beds were very comfortable with plenty of room in under bed lockers. Room temperature definitely varied throughout our stay but we survived. Location was ideal for exploring rossland and catching the Red shuttle. Limited parking available at the back of the hostel. Lots of bins for clothing, groceries and tape and pens for labeling. Two stoves/ovens and bbq made it easy for cooking even on busier days. Each washroom has two showers and two bathroom stalls available. There are two living room areas as well as a games/darts area which was a lot of fun. Ski storage room with boot dryer was great. Wonderful place for meeting people from around the world. I would have been happy to stay another few weeks.

Our first time in Rossland. What a great town. The Mountain Shadow was a perfect experience to start our adventure into BC. Friendly staff, great chill environment, clean and comfortable rooms and beds. We'll be back.

Affordable accommodation on the Main Street of Rossland- walking distance to the central restaurants and shops. Reminded me of plenty of hostels around the world that have stayed at as a young backpacker/traveller. Older building.nnWe booked a private room for a long weekend- beds were comfy, linens and towels super clean. Room is stuffy, but has a window fan/AC unit that helps. Really nice to have a TV with Netflix/Disney access for the private rooms. Kitchen is accessible, and my kid enjoyed spending time in the living room/common area. We liked the painting on the walls of the room.nnDidn’t see a staff person for the 3 days we were there- though we didn’t need one, as checkin was smooth and clear in an email. Not sure when garbages would be emptied or amenities cleaned. Also would prefer the shower light fixtures be cleaned. Other odd thing was that we only saw 2, maybe 3 other guests & it was the peak of summer. One of the other guests appeared to be having a hard time, as she screamed loudly in the hallway after we walked by & frequently was moving around with a hoodie on and looking downcast. It was a bit disconcerting.

Sarah and her partner are some of the nicest and most helpful people you could ask for. Hostel was always very clean and welcoming. I ended up staying for over a month and couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Would recommend to any one I meet.
