WARNING: Be careful booking, horrible & unnecessary frustrating holiday experience: prior to booking, confirmed with the host we needed a guaranteed early check-in for Thanksgiving, I made it very clear if that meant I needed to book the evening before to guarantee it, I would gladly do so, she just needed to let me know and she told me it wouldn’t be a problem. The host emailed me 5 days prior to check-in to let me know she could no longer guarantee the early check-in and she allowed someone else to book, and we didn't have an option to book the night prior as I requested. She didn’t know what time we’d be able to check-in, she also admitted she wouldn’t have time to clean in-between since it was Thanksgiving – obviously, which is why we tried to confirm the early check-in so we could all go about our holidays happily. We decided to cancel as this was not what we originally agreed and it didn’t work for our plans, seem ideal – or sanitary. Since the host could not meet the conditions she originally agreed to, we requested a 100% refund – not 50%. Her “strict” cancellation policy is one week prior, however, she told me about the change 5 days prior to check-in and STILL denied a full refund, leaving us to contact Airbnb directly for it. This was our first Airbnb experience and as a host, she should be ashamed of herself. It appears she had a similar issue if you read her reviews in February, I wish I read deeper into her reviews before wasting our time as I’m confident other hosts would not have handled this situation as poorly. And as far as any response she will comment here – happy to share the messages and transaction receipts. Do better next time!
