Spent one night here and it was a very positive experience! Daniel at the front desk was so nice and welcoming as were all of the other staff we encountered during our stay. The building has been tastefully remodelled and everything was clean and well taken care of. Our room was spacious and bright, and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast room was clean and the offerings were good. The only down side is where it's located in the city, not much else around it. The building itself majestically sits on the top of a hill and the morning sunrise was spectacular. Highly recommend!
This hotel is a work in progress. We loved the idea of a renovated courthouse. We originally booked a king suite and ended up in a king. We needed the suite due to a disability so we went down to change rooms. We ended up in 3 different rooms by the time we were done. As I apologized profusely, as I have never requested a different room in my life, each room had an issue. The second room, the furnace was making a clanking and whining noise. The third room had no electricity in the living room area. We inquired to the 3rd available suite and was told it had no heat. We ended up back to 2nd room. Each room had a space heater, should have been our first clue. We turned the heat up to 80 and headed out for dinner and a hockey game. Our thought was heat the room up turn off the loud furnace overnight. We came back 4 hours later and the room was 62 degrees. Needless to say we turned off the heat, gave our son the heater in the living area and we bunkered down for the cold night. The front desk person was super nice through this all. However we were never offered a deal and we did ask about connected rooms but was told we would need to pay for both rooms. Great rooms, clean, quiet. The only problem is electricity and heat. Also for those it matters, no t.v. in the bedroom of the suites, only in the living area.
I would not recommend this hotel at all! It is a beautiful building, but our king premium room had dirty sheets, dead bugs on the baseboards, and crawling up the back of the drapes. I killed 2 small black bugs in the sheets, that were stained, and had a piece of tape stuck to them. We were not advised at time of booking, that pets were welcome in all of the hotel rooms, not just ones dedicated for pets. This is very disturbing for asthmatic, and allergy sufferers! When we called the front desk, I was told he would try to find another room. He never called us back! I went down to the front desk, and it was vacant. Went back up stairs. Fortunately, we were able to book into the Hampton Inn instead. This was very lucky being the August long weekend. When we went to check out, it was after midnight, and the Clerk told us they couldn't refund our room until the morning! I requested the Manager call us in the morning. He did not. I had to call the hotel, to make sure our credit card was refunded 794.00. It was. I was given a different number for the manager. Which was out of service. The Manager still has not called us. They simply don't care. This is our third bad experience with a Choice Hotel. We will not book any Choice Hotels in future. Our stay at Hampton Inn had a clean room, comfortable bed, clean sheets, no bugs! And we saved a hundred bucks!
Terrible Experience, Uncaring Staff.nI recently stayed at this hotel, and it was one of the worst experiences I've had. The room I was initially given was filthy, with bugs crawling around. When I requested to switch rooms, they offered us one with a king bed, despite my need for two queens. We accepted it, as staying in a room full of bugs was simply unacceptable.nnHowever, the lack of concern from the staff was even more disappointing. When I brought the issue up with the front desk, there was no effort made to improve the situation or even show basic concern. The person at the desk seemed indifferent and looked at me as if I was being unreasonable for complaining.nnTo top it off, the breakfast buffet was extremely limited and basic. Overall, this hotel showed a complete disregard for customer service and cleanliness. I definitely do not recommend staying here.
Beautiful room, historic on the outside for my husband, so clean and remodeled on the inside for me. Very comfortable bed and pillows you sink into. Everything smelled so fresh. Nice toiletries and complimentary water in the room. Breakfast was amazing!nnOnly complaint - your front desk employees should be able to speak English well without an accent and know the area well enough to direct guest questions. Highly disappointed here!
