The Country Cupboard is more than a country store...it is a destination. We're serious about providing our customers with the best brands and quality products found in the gift industry today.
We are Petawawa's Original Country Store...Our two story country shoppe is one of the older homes in our town...it originally was located where Danny's Restaurant is located but was moved to our present location to build the restaurant...The original idea was to have a craft store where we could teach Decorative Painting which we did for approximately 6 years from 1996 to 2002. Our customers became avid and talented painters which led to us hosting international artists like Maxine Thomas, designer of Country Primitives Books and Packets. We eventually became so busy creating our own custom products, attending craft shows around ontario, and became a part of several Craft Markets that we moved on from the classroom teaching. We were blessed to have several very talented painting teachers that shared their expertise with our customers. We continue to paint and create beautiful and quality handcrafted pine furniture, wreaths, signs and much more...we are the leader in the industry in country decor ...visit us today here on facebook or in our country store...
Our mission is to treat our customers as we would like to be treated ourselves. We're more than a COUNTRY STORE!!

Barn Stars: We often get asked what the meaning is for people to have a star on their homes?
When I first went to Pennsylvania to paint at Steph's Folk Art Studio back in 1996 we would see many barns with rustic stars on them and this is the closest answer we have found. The stars are meant to bring good luck or good fortune to the farm. The tradition of the Amish and Mennonite Barn Star can be traced back to the late 1700’s.
On many older barns, farmers placed a large painted or wood decoration in the shape of a star on the face of the barn. Sometimes the purpose of the star was aesthetic but occasionally it represented the trademark of a specific barn builder.
The original star shape was three-pointed but has changed over the years. Today, most Barn Stars are five-pointed and made of tin. They are very popular as both interior and exterior decorations and the smaller stars are used as crafting material. Although modern Barn Stars are available in many colours the most popular colour remains the natural rusted look.
