Story

Thanks for liking the Cookie Jar Facebook page--now come on in and enjoy the excellent food, service and quality that the restaurant provides!
We are a locally-owned family business operating for almost TWENTY-SIX years now! Our business is thriving and we couldn't have done it without the support from our locals and summertime visitors alike.

The Cookie Jar Restaurant grew from a little bakery into a full service restaurant. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and just ask anyone, we do it the right way. If you haven't been by our way, we encourage you to come eat with family at the Cookie Jar.

On Danby St. just off the Johanson Expressway, right behind Kendall Auto.

"Our humble beginnings in 1986 were as a micro bakery featuring fresh baked cookies, cinnamon rolls and muffins with a homemade touch. Since then, The Cookie Jar has evolved into a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner in our home on Danby Street. You can eat at a chain or eat with family."

We wanted to like this more given so many high reviews but we did have issues. Both our items were recommended as some of their most popular choices. Husband ordered the prime rib chicken fried steak w/a biscuit. It looked great. Sadly, the gristle was not trimmed off so he battled that rather than enjoy what should've been a melt in your mouth fattening experience. The biscuits were nice and tall but by the time extra gravy was delivered for them, he was done. I ordered the corn beef hash. It was OK. Honestly I was expecting more hash. The corned beef was cubed at maybe 1/2", there was some onion but the rest was just a bunch of greasy hash browns-tasty, but greasy. Enough so that I'm worried about the drive through Denali. I ordered a 3rd egg. Waitstaff was super friendly and bonus of serving real cream for coffee vs pods. Features: This is Alaska
Absolutely delicious!! I tried the corned beef hash and it was nice and meaty, good serving size, and not too salty at all! We also ordered the biscuits which were sky-high and yummy, as well as the reindeer sausage special! The sausage was amazing! Overall 10/10!
My wife and I came here for lunch. We started with the chili cheese fry appetizer, it was awesome. She got the club sandwich and it was huge, was told delicious. I got the patty melt and that sandwich was also pretty large, it was definitely amazing. I highly recommend this place. We also got some of the sweets, I have yet to try those yet. Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian lasagna Kid-friendliness: Kids menu Parking: Gravel parking Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs and room for wheelchairs under the tables
Can’t give 4.5 or I would have. The food and service were very good. My wife got the stuffed Nolan. It looked and tasted great. I got the Hungry Joe with waffle, and sausage. All cooked perfect. I’m picky about sausage, and this was good. A little pricy for breakfast, but hey it’s Alaska, and we’re in vacation, so we expected it.
Definitely a vacation or tour destination!! This place offers extremely tasty breakfast for all day option, open and comfortable seating and very homey. Great service crew. The corned beef hash is the most famous and tasty. An impressive prime rib fried steak, and good coffee to boot. Also featuring some very good variety options and excellent taste. Definitely worth the trip.
Outstanding breakfast spot. They also serve lunch and dinner. For breakfast try the chicken fried steak. I had the traditional cube steak but they also use prime rib. Breading was crispy to the last bite. Gravy was tasty and not overpowering. Hashed browns were cooked perfectly! Highly recommend this spot. Wish I tried the cinnamon rolls!
Alaska isn't really the place for eating light, based on our recent experiences. On our last day, we had a late lunch at The Cookie Jar due to how enticing the pictures of their food are. The taxi ride here didn't take long, nor did it take long to get seated, even though the place looked very busy. But, after getting seated and getting served coffee, it took another hour to receive our food. Our taxi driver did give us fair warning that service here takes a while. Luckily we had ample time that day. $18.99 Country Fried Steak - prime rib, lightly breaded and fried, covered with sausage gravy, with 2 large eggs: I do like country fried steak but I've never had it made with prime rib before. This was massive. Of course I finished it, but I couldn't finish the enormous biscuit that came with it. This is the thickest cut of country fried steak I have ever had, topped with thick gravy. Within the fried crunchy breading was some juicy meat. I tried some of the biscuit, but it is on the dense side. $15.99 Corned Beef Hash - corned beef cooked and diced, with hashbrown potatoes, grilled onions, 2 eggs: Another massive meaty dish with juicy, fatty brisket, which was a bit on the salty side, as corned beef hash tends to be, and crisp shredded potatoes. $14.99 Stuffed Nolan's - cream cheese stuffed cinnamon roll, grilled and topped with berry compote and whipped cream, with bacon: I would never even think to batter and fry a cinnamon roll, let alone stuff it with cream cheese, and top it with berry compote and whipped cream, AND serve it with a side of bacon. This was such a delicious dessert. It sounds heart stopping and if you can handle that, it is worth the calories. This was probably our best, and most memorable meal in Fairbanks. The Cookie Jar is so picturesque. Come here if you are ready to eat good.
This place is amazing for breakfast. Visited Fairbanks last week and stopped here for breakfast every day. Portions are enormous and everything is quite tasty. Highly recommend
I had the biscuits and gravy with bacon. The bacon could've been cooked longer for me, but otherwise it was delicious. The coffee was really good. Good breakfast for our first morning in Fairbanks. Had a little trouble figuring out how to get to the restaurant though.
If I can give 10 stars, I would! I would easily vote them the best breakfast joint in Alaska, including Snow City. Their Stuffed Nolan’s Cream cheese cinnamon roll and corn beef hash are so good! Staff are friendly. We came here twice during our 3-day trips in Fairbanks. Wish we can have more time and try more dishes!Dine in: Yes
