Loved this restaurant. Our cook was so fun and funny and cooked our food perfectly! When we didn't like the wine, the server took it back and brought us a different bottle. It was a great dining experience and we will definitely go back!Food: 5/5
Very good food, pricey but it's what do you expect here. Our cook was good, might have been an off day for him. Better signage for this location is my main critique. Overall good experience.
It's okay but it's definitely not the Kobe Steakhouse. They definitely need to change their dips. I'm used to having that delicious Ginger sauce and mustard sauce at Kobe and what they serve is nowhere near as good as what Kobe served.Food: 3/5
Great fun experience, the chefs were very entertaining, good healthy food. I had the shrimp you get 8 of them but still felt a little hungry afterwards. The strawberry margarita didn't taste alcoholic, but was tasty. Overall we enjoyed the dinner experience and will come back!
what a memorable night out with amazing food!! we had the teppanyaki ‘signature’ set menu with meat, chicken, prawns and scallops. this choice also comes miso soup, vegetables & rice so theRe is lots of food! you can also order separate dishes so flexible for all. they also catered for our vegan & gluten free family - lots of options for both
Fit a large party in last minute and treated us great. The staff was attentive and had willingness to help. The food was cooked in front of you hot and delicious. The portion size was a lot less then a lot of other similar style restaurants but still good.Food: 4/5
Great value, fun experience very good food. Not much more to say, overall an excellent experience. We had the village platter and the tofu steak, the mushrooms with the Tofu were outstanding.Recommended dishesSalmon, Tiger Prawns, Tiger Prawns and Scallops
Waste of money!!! Honestly was terrible. Most expensive meal I have ever had. Six pieces of beef and Six pieces of chicken, regular rice and vegetables cost $66. Same meal at another Teppanyaki would cost about $20 less. And they are so cheap that they charge extra for the good rice. The meal costs the company probably $10 or less and I pay 600% mark up. Also, can of beer was $10. Liquor store $3. On top of everything, you can’t enjoy anything as you are forced to eat quickly, can’t enjoy your food as they want to quick turn around. I was barely done my meal and the bill was already in front of me. And the visa machine starts at 18% tip. If the service was good I’ll happily tip, but staff hated their jobs and life and didn’t want to be there. But give the option of 15%. Ridiculous that it’s not there anymore. I have been to a number of Teppanyaki restaurants and this one is a rip off. I would not recommend going there. Save your money. $180 for two people. You can get 3 or 4 meals at any other restaurant in Whistler. I don’t usually leave reviews, but I don’t want others to waste their money on a restaurant that charges so much for nothing special food, rushed eating and terrible staff. Might as well go to the food court at a mall, same good, bigger portions and will cost you about $12. Such a rip off!!!!
This was a good teppanyaki experience! Our server was very nice and always answered questions from the table. I thought the plates were a bit small for all the food you get, so I kept scarfing away to make room for the next portion being cooked. Do NOT get the garlic butter rice. It was OVERWHELMINGLY garlicy. I love garlic, but it was EXTREMELY garlicy. I can't overstate it enough. It was a lot of garlic. Nothing stood out here opposed to others like it, but it was a good meal. Would I come back, perhaps not, but it is worth a visit.
I know more than most that reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt when selecting restaurants. Everyone has good or bad days and things happen. After reviewing this restaurant we saw some good and some bad but decided to try them out for ourselves and hope it was better than what others mentioned. Service-wise, while the staff were friendly, the atmosphere was rushed. This wasn't just a personal observation – several online reviews had flagged this hurried vibe. It's evident in how the food is served. In many Teppanyaki/hibachi restaurants I've visited during my travels, dishes are coordinated to be ready and served simultaneously, keeping everything warm. But at Teppan Village, it felt disjointed. Items were cooked and plated sequentially, causing earlier dishes to cool down while waiting for the next. Another point that stood out was the preparation of the rice. Typically, the entire meal – rice included – is crafted right in front of the diners, adding to the hibachi experience. However, here, the rice was made out of sight in a separate kitchen, removing a significant part of the dining experience I am accustomed too. The drink situation was also a bit off-putting. The price tag of $3.75 which I felt is fair for fountain pop. The catch was that they are served in short glasses that are mostly filled with ice. But what genuinely surprised me was the charge for refills. At many places, if refills aren't included, customers are informed upfront. This wasn’t the case here, leading to an unexpected cost when the final bill arrived. Food-wise, it was decent but nothing that would make me rave about it. This sentiment was not unique – many had mentioned a lack of flavor in their online reviews. An added eyebrow-raiser was the upcharge for fried rice – an extra $3.50 per person. It felt like the restaurant was nickel-and-diming its customers, which isn't a great feeling, especially in a touristy spot like Whistler where prices are expectedly higher. A suggestion would be to increase the price of the dishes by the price and have it inclusive in the price of the meal. In conclusion, based on this experience and the collective feedback from my group, I find it hard to recommend Teppan Village. The combination of hurried service, non-traditional cooking methods, and unforeseen charges didn't quite hit the mark.
