Story

Tavora Foods is a family owned business that believes in tradition as a driving force to its success.

It has grown from a small grocery shop to a chain of Supermarkets that imports a lot of the products it sells. The two sons that now look after the stores, still stick to the humble beginnings of when their parents were working hard to establish a grocery store that would give the people, their customers, what they wanted… Better quality at a lower price.

Tavora Foods is about integrity, no gimmicks.

We still believe that honesty is the best policy. We want our customers to feel as good walking out of store as we do to see them walking in. Tavora Foods is known for Portuguese goods. I know that when I am making Portuguese dishes I can find the right ingredients from this store. I needed some chorizo and bought their homemade ones. I love seafood and they have a good selection of fresh and frozen seafood. I also like buying their salted fish, there is so much variety to choose from and at a reasonable price.
It's true that the Portuguese are very proud of their cuisine. We've had numerous pleasant experiences with staff who went out of their way to introduce us to new ingredients and flavours. Extremely fair prices and great quality. Every time I buy anything I feel like it's as fresh as it gets, especially meat. Love the baked goods assortment, and fish selections also.
One of my favourite grocery stores in the city. Amazing selection of fresh fish, flown in from Europe. Also an amazing selection of portuguese olive oil. It's of excellent quality, and priced very reasonably. It also has a coffee shop/bakery with delicious coffee and a mini restaurant/takeout of hot food. Great meat selection, inexpensive but fresh, as it has high turnover. Cafe was recently renovated. Best coffee and baked goods, very good food. Try the portuguese custard tarts, they're amazing.
This place has selection of fresh meat and fish. Great grocery store a lot of stuff. Also they have a restaurant with really good deserts and much more. Come check for yourself you will not be disappointed. Keep good job
Tavora foods if you haven't been here before is know for there Portuguese foods and goods. Tavora makes you feel like your in a grocery store in Portugal. As a Portuguese I honestly love this store. I recommend that you should shop here if you like authentic Portuguese food.
I've had a lot of paella from pretty much every culture that makes it. This one was the best I've ever had. The coffee is real good here too.
Great quality meat. I always try to come here and stock up. Great Portuguese bread as well!
This grocery place has a great select of fish, meats and everything you need to cook for your family. It doesn't look like a grocery store driving down Dundas as it's a small quaint place. Parking is a wee bit tight during busy hours because of the many stores in this plaza. There's even a small cafeteria inside. Give it a go next time you're in the area.
To be clear, my rating is related to the risois that I purchased. Overpriced? Definitely but I gave them a chance. The meat risois was ice cold on the inside and overcooked and hard on the outside. It lacked the taste that you would normally expect as it has zero seasoning. The Shrimp risois was over cooked in the outside and the inside was liquid. These should be creamy. It tasted more like fish than shrimp. I was vey disappointed as I expect better from your store. However on the flip side, I always come for the fresh meat and other miscellaneous imported products, and have no complaints in that area. But I will skip the hot food next time
Great, great place. This place leans on Portuguese / Brazilian foods but its certainly not exclusive to this. You'll find some meat cuts like Picanha and Maminha as well as Argentinian Entraña. Fresh sausages from various countries as well as your standard meat and poultry cuts. Although i havent purchased it there, their fish selection is also great and as expected from a Portuguese spot, their salted dried selection is largest ive seen pretty much anywhere. They also have a fantastic assortment of barbecue utensils and accessories if youre looking for something in that space. Unfortunately where they lose a star is their checkout. Its awful. Be prepared to wait most often than not to check out as there rarely more than one cashier or two and its a busy spot, especially in the evenings and weekends. Its also not the cheapest either, compared to some other downtown spots like Nosso Tahlo, but at least the quality of meats is always spot on.
