Good food with nice big portions. The wait staff was attentive -- our water glasses stayed full and the beers kept flowing. Really wish they had AC , though. I am melting in here!
If you look at my past reviews of places I have been you will notice I'm easy to please. This place unfortunately is one of the few that left me with a lot to be desired. From the salas to the main course my palette was craving flavor but met with tasteless food. Of my family's 4 meals only 1 of us would return. Then to make matters worse the menue was wrong and the restaurant would not honor what was printed and overcharged us for the food. Taco Bell is better and gives you more for your money.
Food quality is so/so, and they don't have a great selection of alcohol only beer and wine. Staff is polute and lrofessional when talking with you, but quickly becomes unprofessional as soon as they walk away do they think you can't see and hear them?? Lol. They have vacuumed right next to my table on two of my lunchtime visits, and the chips are cheap quality. The salsa is good though : the price is high for the quality of food you get. Also: read carefully and ask about the taco salad before ordering it so you aren't disappointed with what they bring you.
Ordered the shrimp Fajitas and for $30 only got 6 shrimp. I complained and asked for something else because at that price I could have bought over 3 and 3/4 pounds of fresh shrimp. They traded it out for the steak fajitas and gave me only 8 tiny pieces of meat and charged me the $30. Totally diappointed. I paid $30 for grilled onions. That was the worse service I've had to deal with.
Continue on to Taco Bell! The tortilla chips actually bend-one can't call that a chip. We were overcharged $5 and the waitress said it was a mistake on the menu. I ordered a chicken taco salad. I was expecting a taco style bowl, but instead got a bed of lettuce, BEEF & 4 tortilla chips. This place is pathetic. I only gave it 2 stars because one of our children enjoyed their meal.
First off let me say this is a place I visit often but tonight was so bad I might be thinking my choices again. The service was not very good. When you can't get them to help you for 20 minutes after sitting down there's an issue. When your chip and salsa girl walks by three different times and looks at your empty chips and drinks and doesn't say anything and you have to go to the kitchen to ask for water there is a problem. When the queso dip is as runny as my water there is a problem. The fajitas had onions, no green peppers and not even enough steak to fill one tortilla. The carne Asada was burned on half so was inedible, the rice and beans it came with was exactly one tablespoon each. The enchilada was so salty I couldn't eat that either. When this was brought to the attention of the waitress her response was its not my fault, I'm sorry I will get your check. She didn't want to make it right and that's what really bothered me the most. When the three tables around us were complaining also about the food and service then there is a problem. When the food isn't edible at an eating establishment there is a problem. When you don't care there is a problem. To pay almost $100 for a meal for three and two of the meals were not eaten because of the quality there is a real problem. This is a small town and when your food and service is in the gutter your restaurant isn't going to last. I am one that always gives a second chance but this is like my fourth experience where it was bad, really bad. I just can't take a hit or miss place. Standards should be upheld. Next time I will drive to the competition to get a decent meal I guess.
I have both dined in and ordered take out at Taco Azteca in North pole, and the service is exellent. Pablo is the best server I've had, I can't help but leave with a smile, and the food is always delicious. One of the best restaurants in the north star borough.
Helpful friendly staff, water always full, lots of chips and salsa for the kids and Mrs. Fast food that was delicious. I would recommend this place. Prices are a little high but it's Alaska.
This place is great. My kids love the food. The customer service is great. We have been for dinner or lunch probably once a month for over a year and I am never disappointed.
Taco Azteca is a nice place to eat, a little noisy, but the food is good. Obviously being a Mexican restaurant in boondock Alaska is gonna make the price of each meal a little high, but extra guacamole shouldn't cost me $3.50. Ignore the star rating honestly and go check them out if your pockets are a little full at least for a special occasion.
