Great place for a snowshoe or just a walk in the woods.

This is a great place to snowshoe, and for cross-country skiing! Very accessible, with trails going off in several directions. Great fun for the family, too, being so close to Bend, but at an elevation that delivers snow when there's none in town.

Fantastic fun in the snow. Lots of trails, both snowshoe and cross-country, and some great huts to visit and have some drinks!

Swampy Lakes is a fantastic sno-park and trail. In the winter, it has a number of nordic skiing trails (not machine groomed, besides Tangent) which can connect up to the groomed trails over at Meissner. Routes are not machine groomed, but as long as you're not there first in the AM or the snow isn't blowing, someone's usually laid down some tracks. Generally not as crowded as Meissner, with more parking. Also a couple of snow show trail options are available, not that steep or difficult, good place to bring kiddos in sled or carrier to see the great outdoors.
