Compared to other Caribbean restaurants in the south GTA, this restaurant is just a bit more expensive. Nonetheless, foods are amazing and portions are reasonable. Very welcoming and friendly owner serves. I’m glad that I finally find my favourite roti place in northern York area!
Visited on April 22 and was totally impressed. RYAN was genuinely friendly and surprisingly efficient: I got my order within minutes of placing it rare for a West Indian Restaurant. The food was out front, ready to serve. The curried goat was so tasty and well-cooked. The rice and peas had me asking the manager who prepared it - and it was Ryan! Compared to similar restaurants in Toronto the price was a bit "dear", but the portion was generous and I was satisfied it was money well-spent. Kudos, Bonnie and team! Looking forward to ordering from you in the future.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant. Highly recommend! Best oxtail in town!!!
Asked for a jerk chicken roti, and then got a rice fill wrap with curry chicken? Roti has potato not rice. Jerk chicken isn't yellow. And when confronted about it he said they had a gas problem hence the rice, well news flash if I knew that I wouldn't of order!
Very good jerk chicken for a reasonable price. Tried all the places for jerk in Newmarket, this one is the best!!!
Food is not good!!!! The only thing that was worth eating was their prepackaged Dhal Puri Roti Skin, just because you have the right roti skin doesnt make you authentic! If you have eaten an authentic Trinidadian Roti you would know this was NOT good! we ordered curry chicken roti and at first thought it was a great size...but was fooled. Maybe had four small peices of chicken thigh and loads of potatoes which were mushy to the point of almost a watery paste. No taste definitely not Trinidad worthy as they promote. It was also served with frozen bagged carrots peas and corn, which were not warmed all the way through and had a clump of all purpose seasoning powder on it. Never going back. just reminds me how much i miss the true west indian establishments in scarborough....worth the drive!!
I went there for the first time yesterday as per recommendations from friends. I had the Curry chicken and my daughter had the fried chicken. We both loved our dinners! The curry was fantastic and the portion sizes were huge-lots of leftovers for lunch today! The manager delivered excellent service. I will definitely be coming back and recommend to others. It's awesome to have another take out option!
Honestly the most authentic, delicious Jamaican food you’ll find! The food is always fresh. My husband and I have been going to this Sunrise location monthly for the past year and it doesn’t compare to any of the others. I will always go out of my way to go to the Newmarket location. On top of the food the service is amazing. You’re always welcomed with a warm welcome, smiles, island music and genuinely wonderful service. I will always go out of my way to go to this location. It never disappoints!
***** BEST SUNRISE LOCATION ******* So I just moved here and tried this hidden GEM. No one would ever expect the best Caribbean food in Newmarket. I have travelled to over 25 countries and have reviewed 5 star restaurants. I am no expert, but I am very particular with my food. Today I went in and found the reasoning behind why this food is so amazing compared to other locations within this chain. It is ‘Grandma’s Jerk Chicken’, this wonderful lady cooks her food in small batches and slow cooks the chicken until it is falling off the bone. Not to mention is super juicy and filled with flavour! On top of the warm service, the portions are HUGGEE. I would recommend this location to anyone and everyone. Sunrise Caribbean, go in and check how good her food is compared to other locations and give her the recognition she deserves!
The food was mediocre at best! I ordered ox tail and literally got 2 pieces of meat. They weren't even whole pieces. The bones were sliced. I got an order of goat roti and jerk chicken roti also and the same thing. Very little meat. Definitely not going back there. Should have stuck with A Taste of the Islands.
