I have trained at a few Jiu-Jistu clubs across Canada and the USA. Sudbury Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is world class and a GREAT club, very welcoming and a home like feeling for members from beginner to advanced. Steve is a great, and highly trained, mentor. You could not find a better instructor IMO.
Sudbury BJJ has something for everyone. From learning how to defend yourself to competition Jiu Jitsu training. The instruction is very inclusive for all ages, body types, and men and women. The members are great and it's such a fun way to spend your weeknights/weekends.
Got the kids involved in BJJ and they both absolutely love it. Of all the sports and extra-curricular activities they do, they look forward to these classes the most. Looking forward to many years of being part of this amazing academy family.
My children enjoy the classes a lot. Steve delivers lessons with a balance of humor, challenging content, and encouragement - definitely worth the investment!
Wonderful experiences and wonderful gym as an adult looking for self-defence. Great community of members that will work around injuries and other medical issues to help you gain lifelong self-defence skills. Steve is one of the best coaches professor that I have ever worked with and has created a culture where experienced members routinely assist beginner members through the complex techniques of BJJ. I’m 42 and have gone from “the couch” to assisting new members myself in a year of dedicated training. I was assured before attending the gym would do what it can to work around my injuries and medical issues and it has, also withholding sparring until both coach deemed and I felt ready to take on more advanced knowledge. I don’t see myself ever leaving.
BEST martial arts school in Sudbury!! This is THE place I train when I’m in town. I’ve been training martial arts for over 25 years and Sudbury BJJ has literally everything: Professional staff, clean facility, welcoming and friendly students, knowledgeable and amazing instructors, safe classes, and structured curriculum. If you’re looking to start classes yourself or get your kids into martial arts, congratulations! You found your school!
My kids go to the homeschooling class at BJJ Sudbury. They really enjoy their time there, and Steve is an excellent and very patient teacher. The learning is fun, but focusing on how to avoid to be in a fight and how they can defend themselves. I highly recommend Sudbury Bjj & Muay Thai Academy for children and for adults as well.
I wish I was exposed to this sooner! My son has been a jiujitsu member for a few years now and he looks forward to it every class. It has taught him control and awareness in regards to his own body, and has given him the tools to be calm and understanding in over whelming situations. You could feel the family/acceptance/respectful vibes as soon as you walk through the doors. I myself enjoyed the setting and people so much that I recently decided to join the beginner adult classes despite never having any kind of experience. #bestdecision everyone in the class has been so helpful and motivating. Recently we celebrated a kids birthday party with them and it was flawless! Steve managed to keep all the kids attention, got the shy kids to happily engage in activities they sure werent shy by the end of the party lol, they worked with us and our party needs, all the kids got a free pass to come join a class, and my sons favorite part.... using the samurai sword to cut the cake!! Hands down would recommend everyone of all ages to try a class atleast once in their lifetime
Great experiences. Steve and co are very knowledgeable and are great with the kids group that my son is in. The stressing of defending rather than fighting is refreshing.
Best place in Sudbury to train bjj in a safe and friendly environment. I love that they teach bjj for self-defense and for sport, which is rare.
