Story

Basic self defense does not have to take years to master. Our simple, and easy techniques will benefit everyone, from seasoned martial artists to absolute beginners, regardless of age or gender. We offer engaging,
fun filled and informative Karate and Self-Defense classes.
Violence is NOT the only option in our
Personal Defense Readiness program.
Each session will include:
-An introduction to the S.P.E.A.R. system
-Be Your Own Body Guard Principles
-What “Bad Guys” want
-Defusing Situation Skills
-Non Violent Postures
-Traditional Self-Defense Tactics.
This course is perfect for office team-building!

I have three kids attending classes at the Courtice Karate Club, aged 5, 9 and 12 years old. We as parents had general goals for each of the kids, such as increasing their ability to focus, their athleticism, their ability to follow directions. I can say that as parents we have been extremely impressed with how Todd Sullivan works with the group of students. He encourages the students to not only become better individually, but also uses fun drills and exercises to encourage teamwork and collaboration. He teaches both traditional Karate techniques, but also takes time to teach the kids how to use those skills in the "real world" situations. We, of course, hope that our kids will never need to use these skills, but it is nice to know that they will have the confidence and the ability to protect themselves if the need arises. I don't need to encourage my kids to go to class. They ask almost everyday if they have Karate today, and if they don't they are genuinely disappointed.

Both my children attend the Street Smart karate program and they love it!.
The instructors are fun and know their stuff. Both children have attended the Summer camps and March break camps as well. Sensei Todd is fair and treats the class with respect, just don't be late for class or its push-up time!!! My children have certainly gained confidence, respect and courtesy in this program, no regrets at all. Plus the fee's are reasonable for a program that runs year-round.

My son who is 7 years old, has been in many extra curricular activities, but this is the only one he has actually cared about. I see so much character development already and he has been there 2 months!. He looks forward to class and practices at home, so he can earn strips. I am very happy with the decision to sign him up for this class.

The Street Smart Defensive Arts Summer Camp was voted the #1 summer camp by my two kids this past summer. Tons of activities, loads of fun and best of all they came home exhausted.
