About St. James's Gate Irish Alehouse & Restaurant
Located in the heart of Islington Village in Toronto.

St. James's Gate takes pride in genuine Irish hospitality, quality food, friendly service and craic (Gaelic for good times). We feature twenty beers on tap, martini and wine lists, and a vast collection of Irish whiskeys and scotches. St. James's Gate also offers a vast food menu containing traditional pub fare, appetizer options and complete entrées as well as party and catering menu's. We also offer a full kids menu and serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

St James's Gate has a total capacity of 180 patrons inside and 65 outside and provides handicap accessibility.

Amenities include a full-service bar with seating for dining, large seasonal patio, a private event room, free WI-FI, 10 HD Flat Screen TV’s, and two fireplaces.

Went here for a retirement party and the atmosphere was perfect for the event. Staff was very friendly and all the food they served was delicious. They also played a slide show of pictures of the retiree. I would go back for a regular meal some time fore sure. The place was quite busy so it seems very popular.

The review is based on the food and the draft beer selection. Not enough craft beers; it appears it's one of these pubs that has a marketing agreement with the multinationals. In terms of food I had the meatloaf. Two complaints... wasn't a fan of the BBQ sauce (should have used a traditional red sauce). Beet side was not to my liking. Sort of left with the impression they are counting every penny so as to maximize margins. Having said that, this is enough to warrant a 2 star deduction, only. Will return if I don't want to think and / or lack imagination. Note 1: more parking in the rear. Note 2: meals are generous. Note 3: had the mussels as the starter, rather enjoy them.

Such a beautiful Pub! From what I hear from our customers at Patricia's cake creations just down the street they have absolutely wonderful food. The service is wonderful! We have done quite a few cakes for this location and they always welcome you with open arms in the big smile! I definitely will be coming with my own family here for an event

Tried the Eggs Charlotte from the brunch menu. Not bad, fries were on the dry side. Free parking available at the back of the restaurant and paid parking spots along the back street. Noticed families with young children and people of all ages during our visit. Clientele may change when evening approaches and live music is performed on stage. Friendly staff.

Friendly staff and not in that fake franchise restaurant "give me your tips" server kind of way. The managers here are great and it shows in the servers, everyone seems to genuinely enjoy working here. I eat here about once a month here and come for a drink in about the same frequency on a separate occasion. Extensive scotch menu is a great touch for any enthusiast and they always make an event of any holiday or sporting event. Ongoing drink contests are also a nice touch. The food is honest and leaves very little to be desired, remembering of course we talking pub food, the portions are great. They also have plenty of different beers on tap and are experts at accommodating allergies. All in all a great spot and community hub.
