Sprag Pole Restaurant & Inn

On June 11,2016 12 members of the Inland Empire Region of the Nash Car Club held a meeting at the spragpole restaurant in Murray. Here are several comments from their newsletter "The Inland Empire Statesman" . "We had a lot of time to sit and ponder as we waited, waited, and waited some more for our food to arrive. It is quite possible, the cook had to go catch a chicken out of a nearby backyard to prepare Sharon's meal and Mark must have ordered a disappearing hamburger, because it never did appear at the table. Needless to say, the service left a lot to be desired! However the trip through the museum after lunch was a pleasant surprise." They also showed a picture of a very dilapidated house in the area and said "Seriously, the house is better than the food and service we received that day! Yes, seriously. Years ago the spragpole was fantastic but I have heard that it has a new owner. Since a am 80 years old, i have learned one thing to be a fact. When a restaurant with a great reputation gets a new owner, they are not smart enough to leave a good thing alone, they will either cheapen the quality, decrease the amount of food, increase the price, or all three! After all they usually have a big mortgage to pay off! As far as the service goes, I hope they were smart enough not to leave a tip...If the waitress doesn't get a tip and it is the cooks fault, she will read the riot act to him and if she is responsible and doesn't get a tip ..good that is the way it 's supposed to be. My mom worked in the restaurant business and she said a "GOOD" tip is supposed to be a reward for very good service. I will never go to a restaurant where the tip is automatically added to the check. That is a stupid European idea , and the only way to stop it is quit patronizing that place.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! LOVE THE WHOLE TOWN AND THE SUPER CUTE POST OFFICE TOOO! BUT THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER LISTED ANYWHERE THAT I CAN FIND! :-(

I was told this place had legendary prime rib. It ended up being a complete rat nest piece of meat and I asked for some Au Jus and the waitress gave me a load of crap just for asking. The only reason I bothered going was because I had a $25 gift certificate which I presented to the waitress when I ordered and was told they would accept it when I ordered however when the bill came (didn't see that waitress again the rest of the evening) the owner Lou marched out and told me he no longer accepted it because it was 2 years old (even though it clearly stated right on it there was no expiration date). I would avoid this place unless you are completely desperate because the owner has no integrity what so ever and the food is not worth the price they charge.

Good burgers, full service bar and a great museum- much bigger and better than expected. Nice tribute to Walt Almquist who recognized the need to preserve the town's rich history.
