I had an amazing and delicious food at this place. I ordered the anniversary special red snapper.I had red snapper in other restaurants in the past but the portions that I ordered here was specialty ones. They mixed lightly breaded red snapper with fried saffron, stirred mushrooms and lettuce, and fried noodles with their seasoning. It was a great combination over the rice. Hope you also enjoy this cozy historical and spacious place with their remarkable foods. I recommend reservations ahead of your visit even during weekdays
It seems like a popular spot. However its definitely showing its age; the decor struck me as the kind of place that was popular in the mid-90's. Fish tanks everywhere but some were a little murky. The martini was well made and the key lime pie was dynamite. The lobster bisque was one of the better that I've had specifically for the large chunks of lobster. Staff seemed a little stretched. I observed the bartenders arguing about who was going to restock something--that was a little awkward. The wait staff were nice but not overly welcoming. It was nice to experience a popular spot but neither the food nor the ambiance was particularly memorable. Maybe time for a decor and menu refresh?
Really good! The waitress was knowledgeable about the wines, seafood, etc. She was able to suggest things that would fit our taste profiles. Expensive but worth it. Definitely for special occasions. Parking is a pain if there's a show at the civic center though!
Having dinner at Splash was a great experience. Neat atmosphere. The waitress was fun and attentive. The food was fantastic. It was pricey but well worth it. I had never seen such a large King crab leg. It was over a pound. We will definitely return to Splash in the future!Food: 5/5
We have small children, so date nights out of town are hard to come by. So grateful that we had a wonderful dining experience at Splash last night! The bartender had excellent suggestions for every part of our meal. We enjoyed drinks, lobster wontons, the burrata salad, and mahi- all delicious! The lobster bisque was absoluetely AMAZING. We especially enjoyed a greeting from the owner and questions about how everything tasted. Couldn't have asked for a better night out. THANK YOU!
We came here on an anniversary night and really enjoyed our experience. My husband doesn't like seafood, and their chops were huge portions and he really enjoyed them. I had the largest shrimp I've ever seen and they were also great. Our waitress had great recommendations and didn't judge when we were a little clueless since it was our first time there. It is pricey, but it at least has decent sized portions not big, but decent. We reserved a table sort of last minute, but they honored the reservation with no problem. Our waitress even asked if we were seeing a show later so that she could help our night along if we needed out by a certain time. I thought that was very considerate.
Thank you for the flavorful and unique pork dishes. We are never in Des Moines but we were playing in the orchestra for the Beach Boys show across the street at the Civic Center. A fellow musician recommended Splash. Beautiful place and superb food. Our visit to the restaurant was the highlight of our trip. Sorry that I couldn't have a drink. We had the pork belly appetizer----I raise hogs---and it was some of the best ever. My wife and I told the waitress we should have just ordered three of those---wonderfully flavorful and unique. We also decided to try the Berkshire hock---again a very unique flavorful dish that you can buy----almost no where. Also had the jumbo shrimp. Also very good. We will definitely try to go back.
My husband and I had an amazing dinner here right after our wedding ceremony. We told them it was our wedding dinner when we made reservations, and the staff went above and beyond to make our night that much more special. We arrived to find they had printed us our own custom menus to take home with us, and they seated us at a mostly secluded table. The food was phenomenal, and our waiter was awesome. We can’t wait for our next visit!
AMAZING! I scheduled an anniversary dinner and contacted Adam at Splash to make additional arrangements for our table. He executed on my personalized requests, and went over and above with personalized menus and plating when our meals arrived. Top notch all the way around. Thank you Adam, for helping ensure a memorable evening. This is the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. We will definitely be coming back!!
Upscale dining with wonderful ambience and amazing service. They have plenty of seating options but would recommend getting a reservation ahead. Dress fancy and enjoy the fresh and flavorful sea food. Loved their fish tanks too!Food: 5/5
