Breathtakingly good food. I’ve eaten here twice now lunch both times. I really appreciate the versatility of the menu, which includes a wide range of vegetarian food and cocktails without alcohol. There truly is great food here for everybody including people who do not necessarily like sushi, like at the table next to us on my second trip. The quality of the ingredients is just off the charts and evident in every bite! And the chefs do an amazing job. I’ve had the edamame, the crab rangoons and the Hawaiian role so far but really look forward to trying more. The location is great and the staff are chill and efficient. Overall it’s a great experience and definitely on my list to grab food when I’m in the area again.
I try not to go to the same restaurant more than once because there's so much to try but I can't stay away from Blue! Their cocktails are so clever and tasty! And their sushi is so good! Service is always on point and it keeps me coming back every time I'm in DSM!
Food and drinks were super delicious and brought out quickly. We definitely enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. Staff was very attentive and friendly too. Highly recommend this place!
We tried this place for the first time. Our server Catherine H was amazing. We had never had sushi before. She made the experience so much easier than we thought it would be. Sushi was fresh! We will definitely be back. Thank you Catherine!
This place never disappoints me. The best consistent sushi i had in Des Moines and yes they have mango crab rangoons. The drinks are pretty good and they do have happy hours menu on drinks and food, which is worth trying out. And when you have appetite, dont forget to try their rotating dessert.
This restaurant was absolutely fabulous! They had a who vegan menu and as well as wonderful lemonades. We got a coconut water and dragon fruit one. They were lovely. They also had a little pamphlet that showed where their sealife products are purchased and that they are from sustainable fisheries. Although we are vegan and believe that no type of is "sustainable" or ethical, we appreciated the effort they are trying to make. The vegan faux seafood options tasted exactly the same as original seafood, so I highly recommend that they make all their options vegan and help create a lighter footprint on this planet. After all, once the oceans die, we're going soon after. AMAZING VEGAN OPTIONS!!! We couldn't wait to start eating the sushi that I forgot to take pictures!
Peach Bellini cocktail was smooth and delicious! Ceviche appetizer was a light option and they brought us extra chips upon request. Great sushi options and order the fried ice cream for dessert too!
Service was excellent, might have been good luck with our waitress though. The kitchen was backed up and after about 30 plus minutes of waiting for our last 2 specialty rolls we decided to go... We had little kids and it was getting a little late. The outside patio is great and menu was pretty extensive. Bathrooms were very clean. Overall the place was great and we would come back, hopefully they have kitchen figured out a little better.
Vegan sushi with more than just cucumber and avocado?!? YES, Please! I got the Unami Maki, Vegan Black Dragon, and the Vegan South Pacific it has pineapple which was super delicious... surprisingly. We will definitely be back! I also got an adult beverage... White Peach Daiquiri ..yum . Great food and great service. I do suggest you place a reservation though because they were incredibly busy.
We frequent the Blue in Omaha and decided to have dinner here while in Des Moines. We ended up sitting at the bar, the staff was awesome, the conversation was great, service was great and we were given a number of great recommendations. A+++++++ across the board. My wife isn’t able to drink and the bartender made her a mocktail that she really enjoyed. Great service has been harder to find these days, I was very happy to experience great service tonight.
