Solo Sushi Ya

This restaurant is located on Davis Drive but you have access to the back parking via Hill St., then come to the front entrance. It’s a small but very cozy restaurant and you feel the warm vibe when you go inside. It was my 2nd visit and I enjoyed it as the first one that was many years ago. Everything is made from fresh ingredients. And it seems the owner is doing everything there, including taking your order, preparing the food, cashing out and even getting order by phone He surprised us by saying welcome in our mother language . We tried Asahi as the traditional beer and Plum Wine that was very sweet so I recommend it to people who likes very sweet drinks. Tuna Sashimi and Avocado Salad as an Appetizer, were very fresh and delicious. The Assorted Tempura was very delightful and tasty but it came very late even after our second time main order. Red Dragon and Spider Roll maki were good and big, they come at 8 pieces. I liked Red Dragon better than Spider Roll. I really enjoyed my time there .

Let me start off by saying that the fish they serve was very fresh and pleasant, the fish itself was a 5 star. However, the sushi rice was too soft and mushy to my liking. Therefore I have to deduct one star. Also, for a Bento that's over 51 dollars it just contained normal fish like salmon, tuna and yellow tail. No uni, or sweet shrimp, or anything out of the ordinary. Although the tuna was blue fin so I won't deduct a point on that.

This is an excellent sushi spot! The maki rolls are absolutely scrumptious and bursting with flavor. Every ingredient used is fresh, and the rice is flawlessly prepared, with just the right texture. The wasabi here is top-notch and the high-quality soy sauce complements the sushi beautifully, making for an unforgettable dining experience.

Wow. Creators of exceptional food recognize each other instantly. This is hands down the best Japanese food I have ever had, anywhere. Our entire meal and experience here was a true work of art. The quality of the food I'm not sure I have had anywhere else, except for what we produce on our farm. If we want sushi and sashimi, we will be driving an hour to Newmarket!

We dined in and had the Omakase. This quaint little spot has some of the most delicious and fresh sushi and fish you will find in Newmarket. It was so delicious, and we left feeling fantastic. Experience was lovely, we will definitely be back for more!

This place is really nice like mom and pop shop so don't expect to have quick service and be in and out in a flash, its well worth the wait the lunch special was amazing, being a regular sushi eater I can say Solo fish seems to be more fresh like a different calibre in my opinion. I will definitely visit again

Unassuming little restaurant in sleepy Newmarket. But wow! So fresh sushi. Blue fin tuna maguro and toro in season - such a treat and so delicious. Biggest special makis I've ever eaten. Stewed pork belly was scrumptious. Tempura was light and crispy. Agedashi tofu another winner. Takoyaki was ok but really you are there for the sushi. Definitely need to come back and eat more sushi! Great reviews and did not disappoint.

Not an AYCE, polar opposite! You get an intimate setting with a skilled staff and real Japanese style food. Cannot be beat in terms of quality and authenticity. Love this place!

There are a few sushi places around Newmarket. Some good. This one is the best I ever visited in the whole GTA. One of a few you can have hot sake actially maintain during your meal. That makes a lot of difference. Test is superior to the majority of places. The atmosphere is very authentic and unique. But... pricy. Yet, if you like sushi, and especially sashimi, you must visit that place.

I try new sushi restaurants all the time and I usually drive downtown because I have yet to find my favourite spot in Newmarket. I tried this restaurant tonight for the first time and I loved it. It was very inviting and the food was prepared with high quality. The owner was very friendly and engaged in conversation with us. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the GTA. This will be my new favourite dine in spot for sushi.
