Great place to dine ....menu is full of excellent selections. Quality of the food is excellent and the various preparations incredible. We enjoyed every item. Wonderful venue for a date or a special family celebration.

Excellent poached salmon, stacked in an excellent sauce. Basically the stuff of dreams. However, do not order the brownie sundae...it just tasted feeezer dried? Would recommend the salted caramel ice cream as a dessert

If you're in MKE for the weekend, be sure to head to Smyth for their Sunday Brunch - it's incredibly delicious, with a wide range of foods, from breakfast to dessert. The service is warm and friendly. AND, they serve Anodyne coffee. Highly recommended!

There were 6 of us in to celebrate a 60th birthday. We had a lovely evening at Sanford. The service was impeccable! We all enjoyed our appetizers, meals, and desserts. My husband & I both thought the food was very good, but not the best that we've had. We would probably return again, but it is very pricey!

My fiance and I were here last Friday for dinner. This place does have some bright spots that shine through some of the lesser experiences, but unfortunately the lesser spots mud up the whole experience. I'll start with the highlights:
The staff was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. 5 stars there.
Both of our entrees were fairly good. She ordered the scallops and I ordered Iberico Secreto (pork). Scallops were pretty good. The pork was fantastic tasting, but portions were smaller than I expected for $32.
Drinks were good.
Now for the lesser parts:
Dessert list is tiny (3 options), which is fine when you execute well. They, however, did not. We ordered apple cobbler which was very unimpressive. It definitely didn't leave us with a satisfied feeling and the last experience during your meal tends to be the one that sticks with you as you leave.
Small plates were just on the low end of OK, but we didn't really want to finish them between the two of us.
To sum up here, Smyth is an OK place to eat if money is of no importance or if you're staying at the Iron Horse hotel. But I wouldn't make a destination out of it.
