Convenient from the freeway if you are traveling. Like the decor. Coffee is less expensive than at most other restaurants. Many reviews rave about the meals. Husband liked their pancakes from an age-old recipe. I thought they were slightly too sour tasting. French toast seemed a little light on the batter but the egg and bacon were perfectly cooked well done and crispy. Food was good but maybe other dishes are the ones to choose. Come and see for yourself.
This place is a perfect go to brunch place. Location is spot on -close to the river walk. Beautiful decor and sweet staff. Mimosas are good. Their fruit waffle was crispy and the cream on it was amazing . Their biscuit and gravy is delicious. Their lite breakfast had crispy bacon and nicely done hash brown.
Smittys is a very cute family restaurant. The decor is beautiful and comfortable. I enjoyed it visually. The food was cooked well and I was happy with my order. I got the pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. My friends got an omelet and the French toast. The omelet wasn't cooked quite all the way so that was probably the only negative. But otherwise I am happy with the experience. The food was good and the servers were friendly. We had no wait to be seated and very little wait for our food.
I travel all over the country and I can say with absolute certainty that there are no better pancakes in the United States then at Smitty's pancake house. There is something about them that just melts in your mouth and it has been that way since I moved here in 1991. We arrived a little after 10 on a Sunday morning, and while parking was not easy, there were some spaces available in the back parking lot. Oddly enough, we did not have to wait long to be seated, probably 7 to 8 minutes. Once we were seated, our server was quick and efficient. We ordered our food quickly and it arrived quickly. I had the pancakes and they were just as good as I had hoped they would be. The bacon was crispy without being too over cooked and the eggs were scrambled perfectly. Coffee is good, but not great. I have been gone for 10 years, and I am delighted to find that while many things in this world change, the food at Smitty's has not, and it will always be my first choice for breakfast in eastern Idaho.
During my most recent visit, I went during their lunch rush hour/ late morning crunch around 11 AM and had to wait a while for a table to open up 40 minutes, which was no problem for me as I was expecting it and went on a magical walk along the waterfront. It was well worth the wait. The service was good and the food was wonderful. I enjoy the ambience every time I eat here. The city has an amazing little Japanese garden on the river, open to the public, just a block away from Smitty's. You access it by a walking bridge when coming from the direction of Smitty's. I highly recommend anyone check it out as an addition to visiting Smitty's, especially if you have to wait for a table. They will take your phone number and call you when they are ready for you.
WOW! It has been a while since we were last here and they have really made some great updates. It's brighter and more open than I remember, but the food and service remain fantastic. Nyomi was the right balance of patient, attentive and cheerful. Had the chicken fried chicken with the "side" of pancakes. Either one would have been enough for a great meal. Suffice it to say I am leaving FULL. Parking: Lots
I went for a brunch with my friends. This is a very busy place. There was 25 minutes wait. Breakfast menu has wide range of options. I tried Everything Omelet. It was good. Service was amazing. Orange juice was fresh.
First time in Idaho Falls. I heard this place had great pancakes. Maybe we overshot the expectations? I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to food. It just wasn’t great- but it wasn’t bad- and it wasn’t good. I know everyone is short staffed, so I’ll take that into consideration when it comes to the staff. I’ll stick with what I know.
Just had the best breakfast ever at Smitty's. I'm from out of town but the online reviews were promising and it was close to my hotel so I gave it a try. Boy, am I glad I did. I've never heard of or had a German pancake. But reviewers raved so that was my choice along with a side of bacon. OMG. It was huge. It was delicious, as in out of this world delicious. And the side of bacon was the best I've ever had. Six slices of thick cut bacon, perfectly cooked and crisp but not burned. The pancake overflowed the plate and it was like a slightly thick crepe but bigger and better, sweet and with a sinful covering of melted butter. On top of the superb food I had the pleasure of being served by Tammy, a short, super friendly, and very attentive waitress who shared her enthusiasm for Smitty's foods by offering immensely helpful advice and information. She kept my coffee cup full and hot, and mid-way through my meal she asked if I wanted a carry out container. My response was that none of this food is leaving here today. And good to my word, it didn't.....
This place is legendary around here. Today was out first time. Everybody in there was super friendly. Even the customers seemed consistently happy. So maybe friendliness is contagious or maybe people are just happy when well-fed. We tried a variety of their specialties. The German pancake was huge, perfectly cooked, and surprisingly quick to be served. Many restaurants warn on the menu "please allow 15 mins" or whatever. But the German pancake here was first to arrive. We did not like the cinnamon apples, though. They were bitter, so maybe it's unsweetened green apples? In any case, we scraped that off and enjoyed the rest with either powdered sugar or maple syrup. Very delicious.
