Shoppers Drug Mart

I went to this location by my house and I know it closes at midnight. I got there at 1153 pm for a quick shampoo pick up and it was already closed. The posted hours say 12 am doors shouldn't be locked before then. I work retail and I can't close just so no one comes in and holds us up from going home. Now I have to go out of my way to a 24 hr location because someone decided it was ok to close early. I would.give it less star rating but I can't.

I just had a rather upsetting experience with a lady working in the cosmetic department. My boyfriend and I had just walked in to the store and went to the discounted perfume section at the end of one of the isles. One of the boxes of perfume had the plastic wrap opened and a Shoppers Drug Mart sticker on the side. I then took the bottle out of the box and smelled it. My boyfriend was holding a different perfume that was already slightly opened, but did not have the sticker. A lady (who looked to be in her fifties and had large, blonde curly hair) then came around the corner and immediately said in an aggressive tone “you know, these aren’t testers. You can’t just open them… how are we supposed to sell these now?”. I then said to her (feeling slightly embarrassed) “oh, I’m sorry. This one was already open and it has a sticker on it”. She then interrupted me and said again “no, you can’t just open these”. My boyfriend then said, “well how do you know which one to buy if you can’t smell them?”, and she replied with “it doesn’t matter, you just pick one and buy it”. At this point I was very embarrassed, as there were other customers in the store. She made her point very clear, and I wanted the interaction to end, so I just said “okay”. The lady then let out a disapproving sigh and loudly said “unbelievable!” then walked away. My boyfriend and I then proceeded to walk to the food section of the store before leaving. 
I want to say that I am extremely appalled by this behaviour. Primarily because if I were a few years older (not a university student) I’m sure I would have gotten a more appropriate and polite response. As well, there is no sign indicating that opening the packages is not allowed - how else are customers supposed to know what they are spending their money on? On that note, I was at the Shoppers in the Stone Road Mall a few days earlier and I was smelling the perfume there as well. The lady working in this cosmetic department was more than happy to open a few up and demo them for me. She placed stickers on the boxes and said “you need to know what you’re buying - what if you get home, open it up, and hate it?”. It is impossible for a customer to know that the policies differ between every Shoppers Drug Mart, so I believe it is fair to assume that the same rules apply for each store. 
Regardless, I want to say that I believe the encounter I had this evening was disgraceful. To have product taken from my boyfriends hands, and to be shouted at for a minor problem in public is absurd. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store. I believe in the products Shoppers carries and the customer service I have had up until this point has been great, but this should have never happened.

Clean and accessible, but some of the staff are not the brightest lights. I have been avoiding this location for a bit as the good employees are often the ones not working the cash.

This store is usually very busy. Prescriptions take about 20 minutes to fill. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
