Shoppers Drug Mart

Decent selection of products but WOEFULLY understaffed. I've noticed this is a trend among many stores lately, especially Shoppers. Sometimes I decide to avoid this store and go elsewhere because it can take so long to check out. I shouldn't have to ring a bell to get something like that done, which only begs the question, if the employees are so busy doing other work that they need a bell to command their attention, why doesn't the store simply hire one additional person to fill in the gaps? Oh, right... Because they're cheap and trying to appease their shareholders.

No Customer Service AT ALL !@! Although this store makes very healthy profits their customer service has deteriorated to the point of being non-existant. At approx. noon on Friday, I popped into the store for a couple of purchases. I stood by the 2 cashier spaces near the Mall entrance and looked around for staff. Eventually the staff member from the Post Office Counter came over to me and instructed me that I had to walk to the cashier at the rear of the store. As I am disabled, I asked if she could call someone to one one of these "closed" check-outs - No she said . I handed her my items and said " I am done here and I will not be back". This company makes millions and won't pay for enough staff.

Unfortunately I just had the worst customer service experience in this store. I work for a small company with a Canada Post account. Rather than request a pickup from our office, I take our documents to a Canada post vendor, request they scan in my prepurchased and preprinted envelopes so I can be sure that they are received. We send time sensitive documents and require tracking to ensure when and where they are processed. I explained that I needed to see the documents get scanned because they are government documents and I am responsible for their delivery. The clerk proceeded to tell me that she should charge me a dollar an envelope because she doesn't make any money doing this. She also said that it was a long line and she would just put it aside because there was a long line and she was doing me a favour scanning them at all. She also said that it doesn't matter because Canada post scans it anyway so she shouldn't bother. I go daily to a post office by my work, and have never had an issue. I came in with a smile and quickly lost it. Having waited my turn in line while the clerk chatted with a woman at length about the wrapping paper on her package. I had 4 envelopes. Either shoppers has taken to telling their employees that every motion spent should be one that makes a dollar, or I was just lucky enough to get a clerk who didn't want to do anything she didn't have to. Lovely.

This place could use a face lift.... Quite a small and dreary environment. Not the best selection. Overall though, helpful staff, and well run--especially considering the environment they have to work in.

The pharmacists are extremely well-informed and conscientious. They take their responsibility regarding patient confidentiality and well-being seriously. And if there are ANY issues regarding your Rx, they will not hesitate to tell you to inform your Doctor right away. These are the type of pharmacists to aspire to be.
