Beautiful decor and spacious seating. Great place for a cosy meal. Delicious dumplings. Happy they had one option for vegan dumplings. They serve a few vegetarian vegan dishes too. The Mopu tofu was incredible! Onion pancakes delicious and I can’t wait to try out some other food. They make some interesting veg stir fries. Refreshing ice teas and portion sizes are generous. Fantastic service Whole package is a memorial experience. My daughter went back the next day to dine in again with her friends. It was so good ! Amazing work SHINYI Just keep adding more vegan options
The place was very clean and bright, since they are quite new. We were ten but they could accommodated us. The order system was easy through our phone. I ordered red braised pork belly and ribs, which was so delicious. It was well seasoned and tender. You must try it. For anybody who don't eat dumplings, I cannot eat dumplings but they still have so many kinds of dishes, so no worries!
The food was amazing. I love the interior design. I never had general tso as crunchy as theirs. The best fresh noodles I’ve had. I couldn’t stop eating it. The reason I gave three is because the waitress was not very attentive. Also I wanted to order dumplings but they were too expensive. I think it’s because the dumplings were handmade. The food was a bit pricey for me. This is the most fancy Chinese restaurant I’ve been to.
Shinyi's atmosphere feels more like an order at the counter and sit-down-to-eat cafe rather than a sit-down restaurant turning your attention to the food rather than the dining experience. This makes it a great place to take your food to-go if you're not looking for this type of casual environment. However, they do offer table service and the service was pleasant. The menu has a good variety, especially for vegetarians : yet still retains the more traditional and authentic flavours of China. The food came very quickly which I was delighted to see; I was a bit worried about the number of take-out orders affecting the speed of food preparation. However, they might prioritize those eating in thereby boosting the experience of those who come to the restaurant. I accidentally got Egg Fried Rice $15.99 and steamed Egg Chive Dumplings $13.99, which feature similar ingredients but with different preparations. While it was an error of judgement on my part, the two dishes were very satisfying with generous portions. P.S. They have really cute dumpling graphics on the menu and other signage so be sure to check that out!
I know they are called dumpling house but only the real ones know that these local Chinese stir-fries are the hidden gems on their menu! Service- great! Food- we finished EVERYTHING. The spice-muah/chef’s kiss. Thankfully it was very spicy like we requested. The beef was juicy, tender, and soooo flavoured. The “double crunch” featuring lotus roots and another crunchy vegetable was done so well, light yet fully indulged in all the spices. And the eggplant was cooked perfectly, between firm and soft, each piece soaked up all the juices and seasoning in the dish. One bite of the eggplant wrapped some chilies and garlic, life can’t get better than this.
The rainbow dumplings were so cute and yummy! The beef noodles were quite good as well! Restaurant seems quite clean and tidy as well. Service was a little slow and we were not given water until almost the end of our meal, but understandable as they probably did not want to bother the conversation my friends and I were having!
Handmade dumplings are great! RAINBOW DUMPLINGS is Highly recommended! Cute and delicious. The restaurant seems very new and clean. Not busy on a Saturday, and quick service.
Okay. I have to give credit where credit is due... on top of the amazing amazing food we had at Shinyi pics, the atmosphere was very zen, calming and relaxed . Credit is due to the employees working on Sept 3rd. After dinne, we were on our way to Nathan Sq. maybe about 5 blocks walk, I noticed phone missing as I went looking to take a pic... as panic sets in I retraced and ran back, was the longest most panicked run I've ever done. Got to the restaurant and discovered the hostess and ladies kept my phone in a locked cabinet behind the register and was waiting for me to return for it. I was so impressed by this... they could have kept it and lied about seeing it which has happened in my lifetime but the genuine honesty left me in tears. Thank you so very much for such great service and such tremendous food.
Definitely recommend! Super delicious dumplings, cosy interior, authentic. With dumplings I ordered a cabbage salad with glass noodles, was delicious but extremely spicy I like spicy food, but it was too much even for me, so if order just ask to make it mild And one more thing: I ordered dumplings soup with pork, but it occurred that they mean soup is inside dumplings you see them on photo, not dumplins in broth. Also passion fruit soda was good, recommend to order.
I can't speak to the inside of the restaurant, have no idea what it looks like as I ordered through skip. The only reason for 4 stars is cause I found it a bit pricey, but as far as the taste goes it's friggin delicious. I got both pan fried and steamed dumplings, the pan fried are huge 2 bites for sure, the steamed are good for 1 bite. I ordered way too many dumplings so I hope they survive the microwave tomorrow for lunch. If they don't survive the microwave I may have to order it again Photo for size comparison mind the desk; and the missing dumplings
