Nice ice rink facility. It’s been here a long time and has produced NHL caliber players. Sherwood Park Crusaders play here. The building is dated but functional. It’s well lit and clean as are the washrooms.
Attended events leading up to Hockey Night in Canada's Hometown Hockey show. Fun family evening and a heck of a way to spend New Years Eve. Thanks for the hospitality Strathcona County.
Older area but still pretty good. Enjoyed watching another hockey game
Lots of memories here, great place to play hockey, changerooms are sizeable and bleachers have heaters for the cold winter games
Consession fries are amazing .. need to turn the heaters on though
Small but got everything! Seatings are small but last row has good leg room
Very nice facility, super clean
Watched 2 lacrosse games. Although the facility appears generally well kept, with clean washrooms, bright lights and tidy entrances, the playing surface was quite dirty causing players to slide around during their game. At least there's plenty of free parking and great visibility from the stands... But that doesn't make up for the poor condition of the playing surface. Has the usual vending machines and assortment of plaques and trophies.
The dials on the heating thermostats in the arena are not winding so it is chilly, bring a jacket or blanket. The washrooms were properly cleaned and stocked. The skate shop is closed right now until September. There have been small scheduling errors by arena staff for ice time. Recently they are blocking access and parking so I have to park at Festival Place and walk over the bridge carrying hockey equipment in the dark. Nice flowers in the summer. Pleasant atmosphere. Concession run in on season.
SP Arena has good seating but the top and bottom row has the best leg room, all middle rows are cramped. Dressing rooms are small. Good access to stands and dressing rooms. Crusaders, Kings hockey and Outlaws Lacrosse play here. Large lobby but parking is a bit tight for events. Shell arena has small dressing rooms and a smaller lobby than SP arena but the lobby has seating. Stands are uncomfortable as it is a simple 2" x 12" wood painted bench. Parking is tricky as you can park at SP arena or festival place. I recommend festival place. A small round about to drop off athletes and equipment. Closest you can get
