Very cool atmosphere and decor. The gas masks were super neat. The drinks are interesting and very boozy so be careful! They had some fun Christmas themed drinks that were quite tasty. The service was good and we didn't go without water or cocktails at any point. I was a bit surprised by how small the place was, but it was still cool to check out.
Atmosphere is A+ Love that some of the booths make you sit beside each other rather than across perfect for date night! Drinks were tasty and food was light and refreshing. The variety of servers throughout the night was a bit different, but our waters were always topped up : Only tiny complaint was the house lighting... Throughout the night it would change randomly from brighter to darker and vice versa which I found a bit odd. Overall a great place for a date or girls night out
Amazing ambience at this cocktail bar! Creative drinks, vibes and service. Our hostess was amazing. Really nice setting for good drinks and relaxing chats. Definitely recommend and will be returning!
One of my very favourite cocktails bars in Calgary! Shelter serves up a wicked selection of drinks and their bartending staff are always eager to help guide your selections if you don’t know where to start! The interior space is a must see, mixing edgy art with moody design details and the most impressive lighting installation I’ve seen in Calgary!
Always enjoyed the cocktails here. We made it for their Negroni happy hour and all of the ones we had were quite tasty. We also had the chance to try the Tokyo Chopsticks pop up menu and everything we had was delicious. We had the Spices BC Albacore Tuna Tataki, Coconut Wasabi Ceviche and Beets & Ricotta Gnocchi. My favourite was the Gnocchi - it was super creamy and the gnocchi was nice and soft; I'm usually not a gnocchi fan but i really enjoyed this one! My hubby loved the Ceviche the sauce was exquisite and had a nice spice. The fish and scallops were fresh and there was a good amount of it too. We will definitely be back!
A unique spot in Calgary, speak easy kind of vibes that serve food and cocktails. Overall enjoyed the tiramisu parfait. The service was great though, very accommodating and friendly. Would recommend checking if your in Calgary. Place does get a bit packed so maybe call a head and reserve.
I was here the opening month several years ago…hated the seating and price point. Fast forward to today…wow, we LOVED it. The mood, music, everything was perfect. Loved the cozy booths! Also loved our happy hr mezcal negroni…will be back for another!! Only complaint not Shelters fall, just the industry in general…I hate how the cocktail industry is testing the price limit of a standard cocktail…used to be $12 a few years ago, then $14, now expect to pay $17+ for a typical drink…ugh!
The atmosphere here was amazing! The cocktails were delicious, must try white noise and okame! Staffs are super friendly! And the décor- OMG!
2022-Sept-14: Came back for Tokyo Chopsticks pop-up hosted by Shelter and also had a few drinks. Definitely loved Bitter Truth love the leathery taste and The Dogfather love me the peaty-ness. Nice cocktail lounge with good music, but low enough volume that you can still talk with ease. Drinks are pretty tasty.
Really quaint interesting cocktail bar. I love the decor and the intricate ceiling lighting. The drinks are appropriately priced and great in quality. Not a bad place to stop for a drink pre or post dinner.
