Shanghai Shikumen Fine Cuisine

I came here once before today and totally forgot and when the food came I remember why I forgot...it didn’t leave any sort of impression at all. I rather just grab instant ramen at home, more satisfying. Don’t order based on the photos...what comes out compared to the photo are two different items. And we found hair in our food. And though the service is fine, I found the food only okay. The brick of rice that’s posted below is literally a brick. And was nothing close to what was picture.

Waited for a table for 3 people with another group of 2 for like an hour and a group of 4 comes in. The group of 2 gets their table first which is fine because they came first, but the waitress told us because the group of 4 have more people that they will be served first even though we were the only 2 groups left waiting late into the evening and we were here an hour earlier. We had to wait another 30 mins for our table. If it wasn't after 9pm, we would have easily left. Worst service and and professionalism. After that, they got our order wrong and we did not get any food for another hour. Absolutely disgusting. Their food is also served in small portions and priced at higher than other places around. The beef dish we had 90% bean sprouts and the beef was tougher than rubber. I grew up eating shanghainese food and the food here is absolutely not authentic. Even the most simple dish, nooldes were served like a pile of mush. They rather eat their own meal than let us get the bill and waste more of our time. This is the place to dine at if you love to waste money and starve.

Makes me a little bit sad that such a fancy restaurant doesn't accept credit card. Food is great. Dare say it's one of the best Shanghai restaurants in Toronto. Nice staff.
