Decent study environment, adequate space and computer facilities. Third floor needs a noise policy as I have lately observed some students feel entitled to talk loudly non-stop and sometimes spew sudden outbursts of laughter. The staff also need to do a better job enforcing library etiquette rules as I saw a student with her shoes on the table talking loudly on her cellphone for at least 45 minutes.
This library doesn't have the ability to recognize or acknowledge their faults in regards to cleanliness, organization, and loudness issues. They clearly have no idea that they have these issues because they had to ask library goers about what improvements they'd like to see. You'd be surprised, but sometimes books and other resources go missing in the library, and no one knows where they went. Often times they overheat the library during the Winter and early-Spring months, and don't heat the library enough in the late-Fall to winter months. In the summer it is just plain hot inside. As others have said, the bathrooms are disgusting here. Not to mention the disgusting state of the public computers people seem to keep eating at the computers, leaving bits and pieces or whole containers. Some of the study spaces could use regular cleaning as well. While some spaces should remain areas to talk such as the 2nd floor, the other areas should also be designated as quiet spaces. There are always groups of unsophisticated unruly students who are too noisy and don't read the atmosphere. Sometimes you can smell smoke from other students or from the windows because some people still smoke right outside the library. While the library is usually quiet, sometimes there will be music events or protests in convocation mall. Neither of these usually sound very good, and only serve as a distraction to us students. Not to mention the awful bagpipes, but it seems those have since moved very far away from the library. This comes as no surprise to SFU students, but the WiFi in the library in incredibly spotty. Even on the 3rd floor. Most librarians here are great and helpful, however. They are the saving grace of this aging library.
Typical library. Noise level varies depending on the time, day and area. It sucks that there is no visitor/guest wifi so if you are not an SFU student and need to study in the library just be aware. Nice views of campus.
avoid going to graduate common spaces in the library if you are undergraduate students. it's so easy to spot undergrads and it can be embarrassing when you are asked to leave. in reality, when undergrads enter research Commons after working hours , there is no one really to ask for help. Also, recently I noticed some students take advantage of absence of staffs after office hours and have their own gathering with food in room 7010 and when they get noisy, it easily can be heard from the study area : PS: very limited quiet and clean spaces leave alone old tacky restrooms that are often neglected
A large library with lots of books and resources. That being said, the bathrooms are always very dirty, and in general, the place could improve on its overall cleanliness. However, the staff are very helpful and there are some quiet places to study. Also the brand new Maker's Commons is a great place to use the 3d printers, audio and video studios, lazer cutters, and other cool stuff.
I think this is a great place to study. The only point that I would remark is the air conditioning. At least in the research commons for graduate students there is no A/C. Being in a 7th floor it can get really hot in summer. The number of fan available are not enough. But in general it is a GREAT place to study and do research.
Lots of books. Very few people over 30. Helpful staff.

My favorite place about the school nice staffs try not to go to the 2nd floor worst place of the whole school
My personal favorite place to study. There's something about a quiet space away from your own desk that really gets you working
