Seven Oaks General Hospital

About

Seven Oaks General Hospital is an acute care community hospital.

Story

Seven Oaks General Hospital serves the northwest corner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and provides some surgical and other services for the whole city.

Seven Oaks is considered to be Canada’s first Health Promoting Hospital because of its sincere and significant commitment to the integration of illness prevention and health promotion with acute care, including its medical fitness facility the Wellness Institute.

Recent achievements include the extensive redevelopment of its Emergency Department around patient flow and service. As either the busiest or second busiest ER in Manitoba (depending on the day) Seven Oaks consistently registers among the lowest average wait times in Canada along with other quality measures.

Currently Seven Oaks is building a two-storey atrium to include comfortable waiting and gathering spaces, a retail pharmacy, new food services and a new medical clinic. The clinic is part of a vision for connected care in which patients can be seen by their own family physician in hospital, discharged for follow-up in the clinic and referred for services to support healthy lifestyle change all under the same roof. I come here 4 days a week for dialysis. I usually try to arrive earlier to enjoy a Tms Coffee and Doughnut. I start my dialysis for 6pm. I usually arrive at SOGH around 4:30pm when Tim's is closing. I get a sandwich from the food dispenser. Problem is my sandwich was stale. What is with that. I was looking forward to my sandwich for supper before my dialysis appointment. I cannot get coffee here without bringing my own cup first. Make sure you arrive here before Tim's closes at 4:30pm.z
I am not impressed with the care I've received here at all. I visited 7 Oaks Hospital twice for Urgent Care following my car injury, once for my elbow and again for my concussion. During both times, the triage nurses were very rude. The first time, I was treated fairly quickly but the doctor was only in the room for 2 minutes to talk to me. He prescribed me pain medication and quickly sent me on my way. The nurse treated my wound and sent me off with some bandages but did not teach me how or how often I should change it. I came back the next day because my head was pounding. I actually went to a walk-in clinic first and the doctor there told me to go back to 7 Oaks for some scans due to my concussion. I went back and instantly regretted my decision. I waited about 4.5hr to be told I only had a "neck sprain" and the doctor talked to me in a very condescending way, like I was a child. He only offered me 1-2 days off for a note when my head/neck was immovable. No note for physio or chiro either even though it's covered by insurance. Even with pain medication, I still have really bad migraines. Despite that, the nurse that assessed me was very kind and nice. I just want to say that I am very disappointed with my experience here and unfortunately won't be coming back. I feel as if it's more worth my time if I drive further for better care at another hospital.
This hospital has staff who don't care and they don't hesitate to show that. I went in for my extreme period cramps and they did not acknowledge anything besides the fact that I had anxiety is a person defined by what they have like I just nauseated with blood and they don't care instead they tell me there is nothing they can do. The front desk staff ask my father if I can speak English like yes I can but the thing is I am trying not to speak so I do not vommit creating more work for all of you. She goes " oh yes it's always this busy blah blah to my father" like okay and you chose this job I did not so can you do it without complaining and being unprofessional. I understand how frustrating it can be being a health care worker but to just have an attitude while dealing with patients is unacceptable. I left the facility with zero help and disappointment. I was not only judged by the fact I was anxious but judged if I can speak a language. Than if you bring such things up they say they are not judging you. Previously I have gotten blood work done there and the worker was extremely rude she says "I don't have all day". I was sitting in a psych office like do you have any sympathy at all. It is extremely disturbing and disappointing how they treat people. I feel awful for the people that have to go through this or even worse here.
1 star is too much. My 83 year old, disabled mother with a walker and fighting double lung cancer was admitted yesterday after 11pm. I called all over the city trying to find where the ambulance took her. Not only did the ambulance take over 2 hours to pick her up, it took till the following morning to track her down. Seven oaks told me they discharged her at 4:30 am, alone. And they didn't call anyone. She fell twice and banged her head..yet nothing was done or even tested. I called to inquire and the staff knew nothing. Didn't know if she was alone or not. Didn't know if she was safe to go home alone. They didn't contact no one. Plus the lady had a bit of attitude..saying well..did you try her house? Like really..you're going to give me attitude when you lost my senior mom? If something happened to her from the hospital to home....who would be responsible? I bet no one will take responsibility for this...so I'll just share this story until we are heard! Terrible Seven Oaks. You should be ashamed and embarrassed. Booooo on you!
I had a horrible urgent care experience. I told them I was feeling dizzy and had a blurred vision but they didn't take me seriously and decided to make me wait hours beyond the estimated wait time. I left without getting the care I need cause I felt nauseous and sick. They didn't allow me to let my emergency person in with me so I had to stay till late at night sick and dizzy trying to find a way for me to get home. Urgent care is NOT what this place provide to people but they further compromise people's wellbeing.
This is a joke. It shows on the website the waiting time is 5 hours. We have been here for 18 hours without being treated. Yet they are fast enough to issue the invoice to my mom who is a traveller. No treatment has been provided. Ridiculous! Still waiting. 6 hours ago they told us we would be the next. Go somewhere else!!
Sunday, September 4, 2022 7:07am I rushed my wife this morning. She was throwing up the entire night and started to feel an unbearable cramping pain by 6am. We suspect food poisoning since it started when she prepared herself some Japanese instant noodles around 9:00pm last night. She can't barely walk nor speak but the very unmindful Triage staff kept giving instructions and asking questions, even forcing her to speak more clearly or repeat her answers. I was hoping to facilitate for her since obviously, she already is in so much pain but she kept condescending me. I believe the doctors are good but the staff, I was appalled by their seemingly lack of tact and zero sense of urgency for an Urgent Care facility. Worse, probably she wants me to feel her superiority,  asked me to wheel my wife in an adjacent area but instructed me to wait in my car???...like, seriously, my wife is in so much pain and is almost at the brink of passing out.. The explanation given to me was more appalling..that she has to be left by herself because she's been vomiting...for crying out loud! That doesn't make any sense!!!
Wait time eta was 2.5 hours, I was there for 10 hours. The ladies at the front desk in urgent care were very insensitive. Thankfully my nurse and doctor were amazing! So 3 stars due to the unsympathetic ladies that rolled their eyes at me. Wish I got their names so I can file a complaint.
I have never experience this in any other hospital some of the stuff are rud and resist. I went to the urgent care I was waiting almost 9 hour i was pregnant and have covid. After wating this long hours i ask them i am getting sick and tirde one of the stuff member told me if you want to leave you can go other wise i have to Wait another 1hour.
Poor service, dont even come here even if u r free. They putting their work on each others so no one doing anything but patient have to wait for their turn like 5 to 6 hrs . I ask them why long wait? they said "it's normal ". Some one moved me from one chair to urgent care inside and told me doctor will see u soon. Which is almost 2 hr another waiting. What a joke . U better go to zoo instead of coming here .
