Second Cup

This second cup location is such a nice place to stop by and get coffee. Their drive thru times are great as well. I usually get good service whenever I get coffee here.nnToday 12/31/2024, however, during morning hours, wasn’t the usual great customer service I would get. The DTO greeted me so smugly, constantly cutting me as I was ordering. Then, when I got my blueberry muffin, it was still in its plastic packaging. Now, I’m not the type to nitpick such trivial things. But from the earlier poor interactions, it really shows they didn’t take time to do their simple morning prep.

Visited one late evening. It was decorated for the holidays. I haven’t been to second cup in awhile. There was so much to choose from, nutty flavours, matcha, smoothies, cake and bagels etc. Ended up going with a classic hot chocolate, it wasn’t severed in a mug. I sat and enjoyed the warm ambiance. Though they were short staffed and it took some time I didn’t mind it. The service was friendly!

Bought coffee and a ginger molasses cookie. The cookie was GROSS. Not fresh, crumbly, over sweetened. When I approached the barista to exchange, he said he’d have to charge me. No returns on food “even if inedible”!!! Gave me an equally inedible cookie, claimed he was the manager, and turned around to do something else!

I have been going to this place for many years since it is a convenient location for my friends to meet. Although the atmosphere is still good fire place, chairs, except Christmas tree was there at tge entrance a year round , the service feels distant. The baristas are plugged into their earphones to speak with drive in customers and prepare coffee and food all at the same time as trying to serve in person , in store clients . They are running a tight ship ...with two people serving and cooking a larger clientele. The result is not a personal attentive service we knew but an impersonal , distant robotized service which I was not fond of at all.

This location of 2nd cup is wonderful. The staff are polite, professional, and well mannered. Coffee was smooth, and the breakfast muffin sandwich was very tasty. Service can make all the difference.
