Scotiabank

Absolutely awful service. The Indian lady at this branch spoke in an argumentative way instead of answering any of my questions. She was passively coercing me into providing information that they are not required to have. They violate CRA rules by informing me that they need my employment info to open a TFSA account. The disgusting part about it is the branch manager also tried to do the same and told me that it was a "rule". The telebanking department booked with a person that was no longer working at the branch, though I appreciate the branch for providing me time to talk to another advisor I felt my privacy and consumer rights were invaded upon particularly because of an Indian lady who invited herself into the meeting and made stereotypical assumptions about the money in my account. Despite banks not having any right to refuse the opening of a TFSA account the "advisors" and the manager have informed me that they absolutely require my employment info to open one.

The staff at this branch are amazingly friendly and helpful. They have gone out of their way to help me on several occasions, especially when I was out of the country. I suspect that the negative reviews are from customers unhappy with trying to navigate the website the google website link goes to Scotiabank's international page, which is not at all helpful.

The bank closed without telling its customers. There is no indication when it will open again. Even before they closed, the staff at this branch changed regularly, so you could not have a regular advisor. The ones I did have were usually not helpful. Very disappointed with this branch and Scotiabank in general. Time to change banks after many years being with Scotia.

Scotiabank offers a free student account with unlimited transactions. I happily switched to Scotiabank from TD after I was tired of being charged for making small purchases for food while out and about on campus. The employees here are great, and it's never that busy when I go! Jason helped me set up my account and he was a pleasure. Plus you get Scene points for free movies, which is a cool added bonus!

I needed to speak to someone in the branch about something that only someone at that branch could help me with, but every time I called their direct local number, no matter what I tried, I would be transferred to the national call centre and told I would be waiting for 30 minutes to an hour to speak to a representative. I choose a full-service bank so I can get local customer service. If I wanted to talk to call centres, I could go with a no-frills bank with no service charges like Tangerine or Simplii. I was forced to drive across the city just to go into the branch because of Scotiabank's poor customer service policies. The people in the branch have been helpful to me, but this is obviously a corporate effort to thwart their customers.

This bank is can not operate like regular Scotia Banks. One has to set up their student bank accounts in a very particular way and these cannot be changed by other bank locations. For some reason, every time we go there they add on services such as transferring amounts to savings on a regular basis, adds monthly fees, and closes and opens random savings accounts without our knowledge or approval. I highly suggest not going to this location if you can help it. Clerks also are not very helpful in rectifying these situations

There is a relatively big Scotia branch inside Carleton University which makes banking way easier for students. They have 3 cashiers to help you with your bankin and 2 representatives to open your account with an ATM booth right beside the branch.

I have a major complaint about the staff especially the young man named Jason P. who is unreliable and not very punctual. I had an a scheduled meeting twice . The fist time he was late and hungover . The second time he did not show up for work. Very frustrating and will take my business elswhere.

The ScotiaBank at Carleton is good and clean. The staff are nice. The bathrooms nearby are clean and beautiful.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Employees dont answer simple questions clearly. I am always getting answers like: the system must have made the change when my account type was changed WITHOUT NOTICE. I would not recommend it.
