I found this place before I even traveled to WA and made a point to visit. The atmosphere is really cool and relaxing. The bartender/mixologist was SUPER knowledgeable and even let my fiance try different spirits he wasn't sure of. If you're in the area definitely try it out!
We sat at the bar and had John as our bartender. He made me an incredible drink based on me saying I like Vizzys. He was also excellent and hilarious company. I would go back again just to have him as my bartender! Thank you for such a great date. Ugh this John!
One of the best bartenders we have ever ran into. Amazing craft, stellar selections, great personality. If I lived anywhere near this place I'd live here.
Amazing creative cocktails with great bartenders and service! Ask them to be creative and just sit back and watch the mixologist at work! Hubby and i had them make smoked old fashioned for us and wow so good!
Names are important. During this experience the most important name was Ben. This gentlemen will take care of you. Not only does he know the history of the location why Cease and Desist but he makes pretty good drinks. Thank you sir. Cheers to you.
This was my first visit to Spokane and my experience was so great! Everyone we met was so welcoming and friendly....except for the bartender at Cease and Desist. Went there last Sunday and there were only 7 other people in the bar. Tried to make conversation with the bartender but he basically just blew us off. He seemed irritated that we didn't know what we wanted to order and we asked him if he could suggest something. We went there because a friendly waitress we met said it was a great bar. Wouldn't suggest this place if you're from out of town. He seemed to just want to talk to the regulars. I read another review about the "condescending" bartender, must be the same guy.
A-hole bartenders. Cocktails are fine. Nothing special. But expect to be treated with contempt. It’s odd. Like they’re doing you a favor allowing you to be there. Why? Because there’s a bookshelf in front of the bar? Makes absolutely no sense. There’s no reason to go there except to say you went to the place behind the bookshelves. Kitschy, unkind, unfortunate. There are many, much nicer places to gather with drinks as good and better.

Great bar to get nice and tasty mixology style drinks and enjoy a relaxed speak easy type environment. The staff was attentive, kind, and helpful. We brought our friend from out of town and she loved the drinks and ambiance.
We walked in with a group of 6 for a bar crawl. This bar was not on the list but we went early so I knew I could come in. I’ve been trying to stop by here for a few trips, every time they have been full. The bar tender was cold and rude since we brought what he would dem undesirable customers. Instead of saying outright, we are not the place for a larger group, he asked us twice if there were more coming and treated us as sub class humans. I felt unwanted and should have left before I was sat. Two stars only because the drink were amazing. He was a wonderful bartender just very unfriendly and uninviting.
