The place for mochis in Scarborough! The mochis here are actually called mochi bubbles and the mochi itself is soft, chewy and stretchy all in the most perfect way. The cream filling is quite loaded too with every bite getting a nice amount of mochi and lots of the filling. They also had a durian one, but I’m not that big into durian so I had gotten a second Oreo one! They can be pretty pricey, but the mochis are probably the one item to try from them as they are average price for premium style mochis! However, with that being said, you do get what you pay for! And I think the cakes they also offer would be totally worth it when you wanna splurge. Definitely coming back here for more mochis and will come try those amazing looking roll cakes too! Service didn’t have too much interaction, but super patient as I admired the cakes and contemplated if I should order the seasonal Sakura item or not. Great job overall! Ordered a chestnut cream cake on the spot, and it was readied to pick up in 1 hour. Service is speedy. The overall look is nice and clean. The cake layer is light and airy , however the chestnut cream did not have enough chestnut flavour. Any Chinese bakery could offer better flavoured chestnut cream cake. With the higher price point, it is a bit of a disappointment.
I love durian and had tried many from different bakers in Toronto. Savorology's durian cake is the best in appearance, unfortunately they're the most expensive but worst in taste. I ordered a Durian Bomb. It's easy to order online. The cake was ready when I was there to pick it up. It was a smooth process. The cake was stored in our fridge overnight. The next day early morning we took it out for a birthday surprise in bed, there's a big pool of water at the bottom of cake box. Something in the cake probably mango jelly layer sipping out water. It took me a long time to clean up the mess. Thank god the cake was still in good shape. We had no problem taking photos with it. Taste wise, you can definitely tell it's from a low end bakery. The durian mousse has good flavor. Mango jelly and passion fruit mousse are good individually, but together they don't compliment each other or durian. The worst part is the cake layer. The texture is awfully rough and loose. It's only one tiny layer, but that's enough to make the whole cake giving out a very cheap impression. It's such a shame considering they put so much efforts in perfecting the appearance. With such interesting appearance, Durian Bomb has the potential to get more attention and reach bigger market. Looking forward to seeing them fixing the few issues mentioned above so the cake is worth the hefty price tag.
A really cute Asian bakery. I really liked their mochi products and flavors - I got the bubble tea & durian, both of which were creamy and true to the flavor. I also really liked their 19+ cake and soy milk mochi cake! It's a little pricey but worth it for a special day.
We got the Durian Mochi and Taro Coconut crepe cake and they were so delicious...this is our first time trying a crepe cake and i gotta say the cake isn't the prettiest but is very full in flavour. Highly recommend both. I can't wait to try their Durian crepe cake!
I'll just say it - the boba mille crepe cake is ugly. Look at the top and the sides - looks so unfinished and amateur homemade. They were also aware it was for a birthday but there's no HBD sign or writing. For $65 it's so tiny. The bubbles are konjac like the ones in canned bubble tea that are more jelly like than chewy like real boba. That konjac layer was still frozen so it had these like frosty ice crystals in it that weren't very pleasant. It had been in the car for one hour then in the fridge for 4 hours. It really should've been enough time for it to not be frosty. Aside from that, there were no instructions if we needed to leave it out to defrost. Good tea taste but won't be back.
Warning: Their cakes are NOT CHEAP, so we would only get cakes from here when we need to spoil ourselves. This is easily one of my favorite patisserie in town. The Durian cake is a class above the others out there, a 10/10 on the appearance, b complexity of its flavors durian mango passionfruit all in one cake?, c and the balance of sweetness/fruitiness/texture done just right. Would encourage to try their mochi too, so far we haven’t tried a flavor which we don’t like. The matcha millie crepe cake is not bad benchmarking against Lady M, I did have high expectations, personally I am a bigger fan of their sesame millie crepe cake.
Just passed by and decided to try it out. I would rate 4.5 stars for the appealing appearance, but 3.5 stars for the taste. I love the fact that the mochi and the cake were not sooo sweet that it will make you sick, it was light and “elegant”, however, couldn’t really make the store rememberable. Hope you guys will improve to make it taste better. Will come back next time
OMG the mochis here are absolutely to die for. Soft, flavourful, and chewy, they're perfect. Ive tried all the flavours except Durian but I think the Matcha and Oreo are my favourites. Not only creamed filled, but layered with sponge cake in between, and combined with the chewy mochi skin theyre more like cute, firm mochi cake than standard mochis; which I actually prefer.
Tried the seasonal item Taro Yomoji Mochi. The filling is light taro paste with cream cheese. The mochi skin texture was the best when consumed the day of. After that the skin seems to ‘melt’ a little and less chewy. Rather pricey in my opinion but worth trying.
