Newly opened with a revamped menu focusing more on the cafe menu and more family friendly with the food items. There is a few carry over items along with the cafe/ “ice house” moniker from yester years Hong Kong. The food is nice and prices are ok a little on the higher side. Service is attentive and currently running a promo for a milk pudding for any 4 items ordered
Came here with family while visiting Toronto and had a great experience contrary to many of the reviews I see here . The staff was quite friendly and made a lot of conversation with us. I thought the food was nicely done and the menu contained a lot of HK classics which were amazing. I had the egg and eel bowl and the eggs were so soft and had an almost whipped texture. All the food was tasty and neither I or any family members experienced any discomfort after. The interior really made the experience for me and I love the creativity and details in the organization and choices of photos and decorations.
As we had some issues but not the fault of the staff, we are weary about going back regularly but still gets a 4 stars. Traditional Hong Kong styled canteen restaurant with a nostalgic design and visually appealing decor and atmosphere. Spacious and decent, relatively comfortable. As for the food, it's pretty straight forward but a good variety and selection, presentation looks really nice on some items. Kids get a kick out of the teddy bear lemon tea. Service is above par when it comes to a canteen restaurants and staff make a good effort. Price point is reasonable but portion size could be a bit bigger, it becomes smaller with their choice of dinner ware making servings size small in thing like the rice/noodle dishes.
Came across this new cafe last week! Tried a bunch of different dishes, crispy grilled steak, a HK cafe style beef wellington, it is juicy and flavorful! We didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise! The pepper chicken hot pot soup, very good portion and is great for sharing! My favorite is the condensed milk french toast, it is so yummy that we ended up getting 2 of them! Service is friendly and courteous ! Will definitely come again!
Since I saw a good review of this place online, I decided to try it out and it didn’t disappoint. We ordered 3 mains which is the HK satay beef noodles, mix instant noodles bowl and hot stone steak and rice plate. The foods were well presented and came out fast, taste was amazing and the price is fair for the amount of food that we got. Will definitely comeback!!
This vintage looking Hong Kong style cafe is so cool and awesome I am lacking in words to describe how much I like it. I am satisfied with everything. Totally a 5 star experience. Food taste, price, environment. All 5star. The service is also great but not perfect but was nothing bad. I would recommend and would definitely come back again.
It’s the second time I’ve been here in this week!!! The food is sooo good. I love the “Curry Bread Bowl ”, and the flavor of it is very strong, I even couldn’t believe I finished it by myself. I strongly recommend the"Red bean ice cream freeze", and the "Beef and Scrambled Egg on Rice" I forgot to take the photo. The last picture is the"Baked chicken in cream sauce with spaghetti". What it surprising me is, it’s creamy but not greasy. I would like to say, the service is the best of the others restaurant I’ve been. I feel like I would be there again on next week. Hhhhh~
It's OK. The decor and the ambiance takes you to retro Hong Kong and it's a nice experience when you come here. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre : the HK milk tea had a funny taste, the beef "wellington" in puff pastry was not seasoned, it tastes bland. The curry chicken in the baked bread was good though so you can order that to try. On the other hand, my friend came here a few days later and their experience was much different so it's a hit or miss with this establishment. I also have to criticize the use of plastic and disposable cups in the restaurant : the styrofoam cups for water, some of the spoon, forks and knives, the drinks, etc. They probably want to save time and money, but in my opinion, it's just wasteful and not good for the environment.
Ordered the baked tomato and cheese spaghetti C13 and a cheese Portuguese in brick toast with rice C02. Ordered hot milk tea for both but came barely warm. Spaghetti - 2.5/5 : small portion, barely any cheese and meat, sauce tasted like runny tomato sauce; too greasy. Bun - 3.5 : good taste but barely any filling. Sauce that came with it should have been a bigger size.
Great to see another Hong Kong-cafe pop up in the GTA, with a huge selection of classic dishes and some novel twists as well. We got the Signature Eel and Scramble Eggs on Rice, Baked Cheese with Tomato Sauce and Pork Cutlet on Rice, and Satay Beef and Scramble Eggs in Pineapple Bun. All done well overall, but I was slightly disappointed by the Pork Chop Rice. The cheese was simply sprinkled on top, and the tomato sauce did not really come through — unfortunately, I only had a few bites of actual tomato in the rice itself. It would be much improved if the sauce and cheese were better incorporated throughout! Most of the meals come with the original drink selection too.
