Amazing establishment! The restaurant is really cute, and cosy. Food was really delicious! 10/10 My friend and I tried the squid rings, dumplings and seaweed rolls as appetizers and we shared the fried chicken, good as gold. Portions are really good for what you’re paying. Food comes out pretty fast, and the quality is exceptional.
Wonderful establishment! Food was great and the server/owner was wonderful as well! Jenn has created a wonderful environment for everybody in a very welcoming space. The restaurant pays their workers living wages so tips are not required. There is even a wonderful room in the back for relaxing. We will definitely return!Food: 5/5
If you ever imagine what good service and hospitality looks like , it looks exactly like what this restaurant has to offer. Unlike other restaurants which serve fried chicken, Sarang kitchen definitely uses fresh oil for cooking purposes. I could literally taste it. And the flavors OH MY GOD !!! THE BEST!! I love the ambience, I love the staff. Best part is its Halal meat which is a bonus for me coz I have lots of Muslim friends and I am happy they can enjoy it too.
No doubt this place has the best fried chicken in town believe me it’s even better than the popular fried chicken place I ate in South Korea. A must get is their Good As Gold truffle oil sauce, the fragrance of the sauce is unbeatable. Their bulgogi fries are also amazing. Just knew about this place last week but we’ve been to the restaurant twice already. Highly recommended!!! P/s: not to mention their support of livable wages, which result in their ability to provide great services without any requirements for tipping.
We had the 2 platter spicy sauce Korean fried chicken and it was so delicious ! The batter was crispy but the chicken wasn't overly battered. I've tried other KFC chains in Toronto and honestly this is the best I've ever had. The spicy sauce was also just right for spice lovers like me. We also had the tteok-bokki which was delicious. The portion is generous that we had to get a take out box ! Highly recommend visiting !
Very relaxing, chill and friendly atmosphere! Great to see all of the tables being filled on a Thursday evening so I recommend to come a bit earlier than usual if you’re planning to dine in. Ordered the Sarang Platter for $65.99 which is more than enough for 3 people. We had leftovers to take home afterwards. My favourite part was the whole fried squid as I haven’t seen that at other restaurants around! The Sweet As sauce is not too spicy at level 1 so be sure to get level 2/3 if you love spice. Also love the tornado potato chips, such a yummy change up from standard fries. Overall, friendly establishment with delicious food that’s perfect for an evening out with friends and family. Can’t wait to visit again and try other dishes!
This is a fantastic restaurant run with great staff! We got the Sarang platter which can easily feed 3 or 4 people and everything in the platter was delicious. The chicken was super juicy, flavourful, and crunchy. We had a great time trying the 4 sauces that it came with as well! It reminds me of the fried chicken you can get in Korea with a twist. Easily the best korean fried chicken in Toronto. The fried squid and coleslaw were also good additions. The coleslaw isn't super wet and has a nice kick of pepper with some acidity to bite through all of the fried food. The whole fried squid was super cool to see and was nice and tender. I would love to revisit with more friends to try all of the other flavours and dishes! The owners have wonderful messages for their community and great business practices that I would love to see in more restaurants Kid-friendliness: Toy boxes and sensory room
I had the pleasure to dine here during their soft opening last night. I was greeted with a warm and welcoming smile. I’ll separate the review in the following themes: 1 ambience/vibe, 2 service, 3 food, and 4 conclusion. 1. The ambience was very welcoming. The place appeared a bit small but there was plenty of seating. There were tables with seats, booths, and even BEAN BAGS! Sarang Kitchen strives to make an inclusive space for everyone. They have a multi-sensory room to help people relax when they feel overstimulated or anxious. They also have a shelf full of sensory boxes with items that promote relaxation and reduce stimulation. Example of items include noise-cancelling headphones, fidget items, and a weighted blanket. They also have a board at the back that asks a question, and the top answers receive a voucher. The question changes monthly, and this month the question asked what inclusion means to us. I loved that addition to the restaurant because it facilitates self-reflection, and a lot can be learned when we pause and reflect on our beliefs and values. 2. The service was great. Peter was my server and he was very friendly. Jennifer, the owner, also came to check in on us as well. They were very personable and easy to have a conversation with. I didn’t feel rushed to finish my food as well. 3. My party of 4 including myself had the Sarang Platter, which came with 2 choices of chicken bone-in/boneless, tornado fries, choices of sauce x4, fried whole squid, cabbage coleslaw and pickled radish. We underestimated the portion size because even with 4 people… we still had leftovers! The food, overall, was delicious. We had boneless chicken and it was juicy and tender. The sauces were great. I recommend Good as Gold black truffle sauce and Sweet As sweet and spicy sauce. The latter wasn’t that spicy btw. Lastly, it was a lot of fried food so it could be heavy on the stomach. However, the cabbage coleslaw and pickled radish that were refillable really helped with the heavy platter. Overall, I recommend the Sarang Platter to share amongst your group! 4. I loved the story, mission, and values of Sarang Kitchen. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to check it out. I love that they are bringing their experience and knowledge working with individuals who have Autism… and creating a space that is inclusive for everyone, including those who may be on the spectrum. I love that tipping is not included and that they pay their employees a liveable wage. I will be coming back again to try the Ddeokbokki, Korean Spicy Rice Cake in the future :
Eating at this restaurant was such an honour. It really sets the bar when it comes to how restaurants should be. First, it is evident that they truly stand behind their values. There are sensory spaces that people can go to when they need to, the sensory hours allows for a more enjoyable dining experience, and the diversity of the staff displayed the definition of “inclusion”. Second, the food was so amazing. My group of 4 with big appetites got the party platter and it was more than enough for all of us. The chicken was so juicy and crispy - honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. The “sweet as” flavour in my opinion was perfect. Third, service was outstanding! Peter took care of all our needs for the night and was VERY attentive. The owner, Jennifer, came by our table to ask how everything was and displayed that she really cares about making this place successful. Keep up the good work! See you in the near future :
The tteokbokki was delicious, really tasted homemade. Nice and spicey. And the fried chicken really is one of the best we've had in the city - crispy and not overly sauced. Wonderful addition to the neighborhoodFood: 5/5
