The place was a real treat! The owner was so warm and friendly and I could tell there was real passion for the food and great attention given to the details all the meat is Halal. The atmosphere was fun but intimate with booths for friends to catch up. The highlight has to be the coffee ceremony where the roasting beans were brought out for us to smell. Will be back again!
First time trying Eritrean/Ethiopian food. Awesome experience, amazing vibes compare to other places serving similar food in the area. I’ll definitely come back for drinks and food. Nice bar with quite liquor and beer selection
It’s called The Maida now, same address. First time trying Ethiopian food. The host prepared a platter for us featuring two mixtures of beef and peppers, two preparations of lentils, one of spinach, one of cabbage, and one of beans I think called shiro. There was lots of enjira bread to enjoy. We also had some hot tea with spices. Absolutely delicious and I would go back there. Fabulous experience overall. Only weird thing was the music was more American, blues and rock.
We tried the vegi plate and lamb Shiro both were very good spicy alert, casual atmosphere, live music on Friday.
One of the best place to stop and enjoy the vibe of the owner Sami Tadese and his family/crew. Her aunt is the cook chief and she makes sure that the food taste so good. . Every Sunday you can enjoy an Eritrea traditional coffee. Food: 5/5
This place is a MUST TRY! Best Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant I have seen in years and at a prime location. the vibes here is truly special as well as the food tasting delicious.. Reminds me of Asmara. If you are trying Eritrean food for a first time or looking for a place.. this is the one..
Visited with some friends. Had a lovely time. The service was great and owner was nice and hospitable! Will visit again.
Hands down the best Ethiopian food in the city! Most places taste like the food has been sitting around open all day. When you get #injera from the Mask, it tastes like it was #madefresh as soon as you ordered. For example, the stems and veggies still have that fresh crunch while other aspects are soft, letting me know it was JUST made. ALSO, bonus is, I've never waited over 10 minutes to receive our food. VERY quick VERY tasty. I highly recommend the #veggieplatter ... Saturday night is the best if you want that club/restaurant vibe, and Sunday mid-day is the best for their ceremonial coffee presentation. Every other day is bless also ! The owner is very genuine!!! Enjoy!
Absolutely loved The Mask! First time trying Eritrean/Ethiopian food and was not disappointed. Everything was amazing for a good price. Owner is a great guy too!! Will definitely be going back
Great place! The food, customer service, and the overall general vibe of the place was great! The owner is a great guy who’s vested in his customer’s experience at The Mask and, most importantly, is present at the restaurant! If you’re looking for a place to eat some great food or have some coffee, or simply a place with great music and an exciting vibe, look no further than The Mask on Bloor!
